January 22, 2009 London Informer/Paul Warburton - QPR set sights on Caleb Folan
- QPR have turned their attentions to Hull City's Caleb Folan as the last part of an attacking jigsaw. Rs boss Paulo Sousa believes he only needs one more option up front - and wants the out-of-favour Irish international to plug the gap. Folan started the season by notching the winner in his side's opening day 2-1 victory over Fulham, but has since been restricted to a watching brief from the Tigers bench - getting only one Premiership start doing the 26-year-old no favours at all. Hull were whacked 5-0 at home to Wigan at the end of August. But Sousa wants his club to have another go at getting a player manager Phil Brown wanted to hang onto when Rangers asked the question last summer. Folan would come on loan initially, and if things worked out would sign permanently for somewhere around the £1m Hull paid for his services when he joined from Wigan in A ugust, 2007. But a Hoops insider revealed there would be no further chasing Leroy Lita at Reading.
The striker is priced at £1.3m, but Hoops will keep their money in their pockets both for he and Southampton keeper Kelvin Davies - also linked with the club this week in an apparent £1m switch. The source said: "Lita wants to see where he is with Reading at the end of the season. And as it stands Rangers have two top keepers. Even if Lee Camp eventually leaves, the club can get an emergency keeper on loan should it be necessary." London Informer
