I'm surprised Cardiff can afford him.
No surprise that we can't.

I'd be suprised if Watson does stay at QPR.
His performances overall have been below par and his mistakes have been very costly. Add to that the two sendings off and the instability at the club during his loan stay have meant that his spell here has not been successful, a fact reflected in our league position at the moment.
We can hardly convince him that we are now a stable proposition for him with a manager on a 6 month contract and fans booing a first home win in 6.
Cardiff seem to be in that position that, with a few shrewd investments in players, will allow them to kick on and consolidate their play-off spot and challenge for second, so I'm not surprised that they have found the investment as their prospects look a lot better than ours right now.
I won't be too upset to see Watson go, he is a good player and once settled at a club should do well, but right now our manager is gone in 6 months time, more than likely, leaving me to assume that others are responsible for long term player contracts as it would be shocking business sense to leave the sole charge of handing out long term contracts to a short term 'stop-gap' employee as that should be the sole domain of the manager with agreement from the board due to their faith in their choice of manager and not at their direction.
So far the latter has failed in tragic comedic fashion.

So far the latter has failed in tragic comedic fashion. He has been poor and in Faurlin we have a natural ball playing defensive midfielder but I can't help but think that a lot of people thought he was good (including Palace fans). So will someone else get him playing again or worse will he comeback and spank us.

Sorry Mark, I do agree with S. London. Very hard to measure anyones real ability until some stability comes to club.

His reputation does preceed him and it is certainly one based upon actual ability but as we can not offer him the stability he needs in order to get his form back I do not see the point in him staying.
From what I've seen of him in a QPR shirt he has not done enough to tempt me into buying him and certainly not worth the asking price if it's above £1.5m and I would prefer that money spent elsewhere where it is needed more urgently in defence and up front.
Will he go elsewhere and do well? Probably, not that many clubs, if any, are run as badly as ours at the moment. A manager with a long term aim would certainly suit him better and could probably raise his game.
Will he come back and punish us? Definately. We are QPR. That's what always happens. Reliably and continuously until the end of time. Ask Sheff. Utd. Happened to them recently!
Give me a striker and right back first and then we can start the luxury of buying players based on reputation alone even if they are having a nightmare playing for us at the moment.

Mark your analysis is impeccable as usual but I wonder about spending money on the defence. Clearly the fullbacks are not brilliant but I actually thought Williams and Ramage played well against Bristol though both seemed to be left exposed by having no cover. This is ostensibly the same defence that Dowie & Sousa had playing very well and I suspect some of their frailty is down to Magilton's more gung-ho approach with the midfield. Yes if we had the chance at a good pair of fullbacks I'd take them but I'm not sure this is a "need" thing right now. As for a striker I absolutely agree that we need a serious striker option but very much doubt that we can get one in January for our budget. I suspect we will see February arrive and feel completely disappointed again.

I won't miss him, keep hearing how good he is but not seeing it.
Apparently he was good at Cardiff and Newcastle playing alongside Rowlands.

If reports are accurate, may be problematic... "The most important thing is to see how he has developed since he has been at QPR and we'll make a decision then."

Maybe we should get Alan Smith, him and Faurlin could compliment each other, not that smith would move

Faurlin & Mahon was our best centre midfield this year
