GERRY'S LOAN SWOOP
RANGERS have signed defender Darran Ward from Watford on loan. Ward, 21, is six feet tall and has made a number of first team appearances for the Vicarage Road club.
Boss Gerry Francis says: "It has been a frustrating time as we have lost all of our first team central defenders with injury. After such a good start to the season, we find ourselves with five captains ruled out. So Graham Taylor has very kindly helped us out and let us have Darran on a month's loan.
"Darran was a promising young player a couple of years ago. He broke into the Watford first team at the age of 19 . Then unfortunately he broke his leg and had a pin in place for six months.
"But he's been playing this season without the pin and coming back to where he was before. So we're delighted that Graham has been able to lend him to us for a month."
Rangers are without Danny Maddix, Ian Baraclough, Matthew Rose, Karl Ready and Steve Morrow for Saturday's home game against Charlton.

STUART TOPS SCORING CHARTS
STUART WARDLEY's goal at home to Torquay made him Rangers' leading scorer for the season.
Wardley has now hit the target eight times - one more that Gavin Peacock. But the former Saffron Walden Town man was not happy with the outcome of Saturday's game.
Stuart says: "We made a number of chances but we couldn't put them in the back of the net unfortunately.
"My goal came from a nice move down the right. Rob Steiner had a good first half and pulled the ball back. Paul Bruce didn't quite make it and I was there to put it in an empty net. I'm just in there to score goals and that's what I'm doing.
"We should have scored two or three goals. But that's the FA Cup for you. If you don't take your chances you are likely to get punished.
"We've got to go down to Torquay now and get a result. We always feel confident when we go away. So we've just got to go out and get at them from the start and take our chances this time."
MATTHEW ROSE has had an operation on the blocked arteries in his right calf. Matthew is recovering well and will stay in hospital for the next two to three days. He should be back in action in six to eight weeks.
Steve Morrow spent Wednesday afternoon in hospital having tests on his ruptured shoulder ligaments.
RANGERS supporters travelling to next Tuesday's FA Cup replay at Torquay should pay at the turnstiles on the night. There is a QPR allocation of 1004 - with 196 seats and 808 terrace spaces. Admission is £10 adults, £5 juniors/pensioners.

GOOD AND BAD FOR DOWIE
COACH Iain Dowie has a mixed report on yesterday's 1-0 home defeat for the reserves against Swindon Town.
Iain says:" We dominated the game for long, long periods, creating enough chances to win two matches really. Swindon worked very hard and they scored with a free-kick that bent into the far corner of the net. So we ended up paying for the chances we missed.
"Mark Perry continued on the way back from injury and George Kulcsar was back after a bit of illness. And we fielded a couple of trialists. Lee Jarman - ex of Cardiff City - and Frederic Patouillard from France, who did some nice things on the ball.
"We played Ross Weare and Sammy Koejoe up front. Unfortunately, Sammy had a rather heavy challenge from behind and reacted to it. So Sammy and the Swindon player were sent-off.
"Young Rickey Lopez was in the side and acquitted himself quite well. He caught the eye. Michael Mahoney-Johnson was back after injury and he had a couple of chances. So it's nice to see young lads like that coming in and doing well."

MANAGER'S MESSAGE
GERRY FRANCIS has a special message for the Rangers fans going to Saturday's home game against Charlton.
The R's boss says: "It should be a good game with a cracking atmosphere. Charlton are a good side and many people's favourites to go up. It will be a tough test and it is frustrating that I cannot field the team I'd like to. I don't even know who will skipper the team - we have five captains ruled out!
But there is still good spirit in the camp and it is very important for our fans to really get behind our players and roar us through it. I'm sure my team will respond to that and give Charlton a game."
Meanwhile Gerry is exasperated by newspaper speculation linking Bolton striker Dean Holdsworth with a £750,000 move to Loftus Road.
Gerry says: "There is no truth in the Dean Holdsworth story whatsoever. I can categorically say that any resources we have at all are being put into trying to find central defenders because of all our long-term injuries. We've had no contact with Bolton Wanderers regarding Holdsworth and nor are we due to."
Team news - With Ian Baraclough suspended and nine other first team players still injured, loan signing Darran Ward from Watford stands by for his R's debut.
There are no QPR Academy fixtures on Saturday due to Christmas holidays.
