Luckily (G-d hopes), we've moved far, far beyond Martin Allen!
BBC - Manager Martin Allen parts company with Cheltenham
Allen was appointed Cheltenham manager in September 2008
Manager Martin Allen has left League Two club Cheltenham Town by mutual consent despite being formally cleared of racial misconduct.
Allen was alleged to have racially abused a nightclub bouncer in October, prompting the Robins to place him on indefinite gardening leave.
The 44-year-old denied the claims and last month Gloucestershire Police said no further action would be taken.
Allen was subsequently cleared by an internal club inquiry on Friday.
"Naturally I am very pleased with the outcome in terms of being found innocent of the charges but it is unfortunate that it has not been possible for me to remain at the club as manager," read a statement from Allen on the League Managers' Association (LMA) website.
"I would like to thank Cheltenham for giving me a fair hearing and the LMA for all of their support, including the legal team at Russell Jones & Walker, during this difficult period.
"I wish to reiterate that these allegations were untrue, deeply hurtful and upsetting to me. What I want now is to put this unfortunate incident behind me and concentrate all my efforts on pursuing my career in professional football management with my reputation intact and my head held high."
Cheltenham have refused to comment.
Caretaker manager John Schofield, who has been in temporary charge since October, will continue in his current role.
