This is Local London Loan Ranger is out but two could return 9:10am Friday 4th December 2009 ON-LOAN Blues ace Gareth Ainsworth has been ruled out of tomorrow’s relegation six-pointer at home to Stockport County after Blues’ training ground curse struck again. The on-loan QPR ace became the third player in a fortnight to breakdown on the training ground when he pulled up with a calf injury last week. It forced the 36-year-old out of the midweek defeat at Southampton and will rule him out of tomorrow’s basement battle as well. Boss Gary Waddock said: “It’s something we will have to cope with and manage. We don’t know how long he will be out for but it is a headache. “We’ve got him until December 20 and I’m hoping he will be back before that runs out. “He’s played a big part in our improvement. His ability, his experience his enthusiasm and fight has rubbed off on the others. “It’s a blow, but there is nothing we can do about it. It is part and parcel of football and Saturday will be too early for him. “It’s tough for him because he wants to play and that’s the whole reason why he’s come here. “And it’s tough for all of us but there’s nothing we can do except deal with it. You know you are not going to go through a whole season without players picking up an injury. We just hope we have used up our bad luck.” But while Ainsworth misses out, there is better news of Blues’ two other training ground casualties. Centre half Chris Westwood and midfielder Matt Bloomfield, who both pulled up with hamstring injuries within two minutes of each other 12 days ago, have both made lightning recoveries. They returned to full training yesterday and are both in with a shout of facing the Hatters tomorrow. Waddock said: “They have both come back very quickly and they have got a good chance of being involved on Saturday. “They have surprised me with how quickly they have come back and it’s all about seeing today if they have any reaction now.” www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/sport/4776700.Loan_Ranger_is_out_but_two_could_return/

Still injured... Bucks Free Press Ainsworth ruled out again Friday 11th December 2009 By Dave Peters » ON-LOAN winger Gareth Ainsworth will miss his third match running tomorrow after failing to recover from the calf injury he picked up on the training ground. The 36-year-old QPR winger won’t travel with the team when they set off for Carlisle today and will instead turn his attention to trying to be fit for the following week’s battle with Oldham. Ainsworth’s midfield partner Tommy Doherty is also a doubt for this weekend’s long trek north after another training ground mishap. He turned his ankle on the practice ground seven days ago and missed Saturday’s win over Stockport. The former Northern Ireland international only resumed training yesterday and Wanderers won’t take any risks with him ahead of the busy Christmas schedule. If there is any doubt over his fitness manager Gary Waddock won’t let him board the bus because he doesn’t want the injury to stiffen up on today’s long coach trip, which the Blues will break up with a training session at Premiership Stoke City. The ankle Doherty turned is the same one that he suffered ankle ligament damage to in July – a knock that kept him out until mid-October. But this time the 30-year-old has only suffered mild ligament damage. Those are Blues’ only fresh injury doubts ahead of tomorrow’s clash of the division’s two form sides. Relegation-haunted Wanderers have shown promotion form of late, winning three out of their last four matches but they are still in the relegation zone. And tomorrow they will come up against another form side. The Cumbrians are unbeaten in four and Waddock knows his troops are in for a tough time. Waddock said: “They are doing extremely well at the moment and we are going to have to be at the races because in the position we are in we need to win. “We have done well recently but we have still got a lot of work to do.” www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/sport/localsport/4786094.Ainsworth_ruled_out_again/
