QPR Official Site 0 QPR U18 5, BRISTOL CITY U18 3QPR's Under-18s produced a breathtaking second half display to come from three goals down to force extra time, before Josh Parker completed a sensational hat-trick, in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
After a mad six minute spell, the R's conceded three goals to some lax defending but hit back in a mad seven minutes of their own as first Antonio German scored a fine individual goal, before Parker turned the game on its head with his phenomenal treble.
For this Cup tie, Elvijs Putnins was given the nod ahead of Niki-Lee Bulmer in goal, whilst Parker took up residence on the left of a five man midfield, leaving Antonio German as the lone front man.
It was the Robins who had the first real effort with George Boon volleying straight at Putnins from the edge of the box.
Despite this, it was Rangers who had the better of the early exchanges, enjoying the lion's share of the possession but lacking any real threat in the final third.
Terry Smith tried to make amends spectacularly, losing the ball in midfield before winning it back and sending a drive narrowly wide from fully 30 yards.
Parker's trickery down the right deserved more than a Bristol clearance and Ashley Kingston almost made the most of the R's ineffectiveness in front of goal, as the City midfielder lashed a 20-yard shot that was comfortably dealt with by Putnins.
Just past the half hour mark, Kingston sent a free-kick thundering over the bar after Robert Stambolziev had been fouled 20 yards out.
Stambolziev almost teed up fellow striker Marlon Jackson, whose despairing lunge came within a whisker of turning home the cross form the left, then defender Luke Wilkinson headed wide when well placed from a corner as the Robins began to assert themselves on proceedings.
Rangers struck back, and good work down the right from Parker and Smith saw the latter deliver a fine centre for German, who could only head wide.
The second half, in contrast to the quiet first, opened with a bang, as Parker fired wide and then, from a corner, Bristol City had the ball in the net, only for that to be disallowed for a foul.
Inevitably, given the frantic start to this half, a goal arrived just before the hour. Stambolziev's whipped free-kick was nodded home by Wilkinson.
Shell-shocked Rangers went two down seconds later. Joe Lennox escaped down the right and floated a beautiful cross that sailed over everyone before finding Stambolziev unmarked at the back post to tuck it away.
In response to Bristol's two-goal salvo, Manager Steve Brown introduced firstly Christian Nanetti, then Andrew Perring to add some creativity and try and find a way back into the Cup tie.
In had little impact, as the Robins added a third through winger Lennox on 63 minutes as he turned and struck a shot that squirmed under Putnins and into the net.
Rangers refused to give in and pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute through German. After collecting a pass from Parker, the big striker burst into the box, beat one defender, then another, before rifling a shot into the roof of the net from eight yards.
Rangers were in full flight and Parker bagged a second for the home crowd a minute later as he picked up the ball just inside the box on the left, cut back to beat the fullback, and fired a sweetly-struck shot beyond Tom Bradley at his near post.
That was by no means the end of the drama as Rangers found the equaliser in the 79th minute. Ilesanmi won a free-kick deep in his own half but found Parker on the left. The forward drove on, beat Chris Williams, then poked the ball under Bradley to send the watching support wild.
In a frantic last ten minutes, German rattled his own post trying to clear a Stambolziev free-kick, whilst Parker tried a speculative long-range header after Bradley had strayed dangerously away from his goal.
But ultimately, the match went to extra time.
Rangers picked up where they left off and Ed Harris, the centre back, rose well for a Nanetti cross, but sent a looping header crashing against the woodwork.
Incredibly, Ranger took the lead seven minutes into extra time. Smith's long punt up field found its way to Parker out on the left, who ran at the Bristol defence and cut inside onto his favoured right foot, before blasting a sublime drive into the top-right hand corner.
Wilkinson blazed a volley over, before Parker nearly added a fifth in a back and forth end to the match.
In a complete turnaround of fortunes, the R's did manage a fifth goal. Nanetti and German played a neat one-two from a corner and, after skipping one challenge, the latter smashed a rocket into the roof of the net.
Bristol were reduced to ten men late on, when Stambolziev was shown a straight red for a crude lunge, but it proved inconsequential as by that time Rangers had sealed a memorable victory and marched on to round four.

BRISTOL CITY OFFICIAL SITE - CITY YOUNGSTERS EXIT YOUTH CUP QPR Under-18s 5-3 Bristol City Under-18s
City Under-18s threw away a three-goal lead at Queens Park Rangers to exit the FA Youth Cup in an eight-goal thriller after extra time.
Six of the goals came in the second half, with Luke Wilkinson netting first from Rob Stambolziev's free kick.
Joe Lennox crossed for Stambolziev to tuck away a second soon after, then Lennox made it 3-0 on 63 minutes.
But it all fell apart for John Clayton's men in this third round encounter.
Antonio German gave the hosts a lifeline with a close-range goal.
Josh Parker then made it 3-2, firing past City keeper Tom Bradley at his near post.
And extra time was forced by Parker's second goal of the night with nine minutes of normal time left.
The R's were in full flight and led for the first time on the night as Parker fired in his hat-trick goal.
German then put the result beyond doubt after playing a neat one-two on the edge of the box before firing past Bradley.
To make matters worse, Stambolziev was then dismissed at the death for a two-footed lunge.
