Watford closed in on a play-off place after two goals by Heidar Helguson and one by Danny Graham sank sloppy Sc**thorpe in a downpour at Vicarage Road.

The high-flying Hornets have won four of their last six Championship games - in contrast to Sc**thorpe's fourth successive league defeat.
Helguson, who became a Watford legend during his first spell with the club between 1999 and 2005, rejoined them on loan from Queens Park Rangers in September.
Injury has restricted his appearances but the fit-again striker showed his predatory instincts, helped by being given the freedom of the six-yard box by Sc**thorpe.
A delighted Malky Mackay revealed discussions were ongoing with QPR to keep Helguson at Vicarage Road for the remainder of the season.
The Watford manager said: "Heidar scores again. There were great quality balls into him and his partnership with Danny Graham today caused them problems.
"Danny makes a great contribution to our team week-in, week-out and he's stepped up a level. To score three goals, keep a clean sheet and win three points is very pleasing."
Sc**thorpe showed why they have the worst defence in the Championship by leaving Helguson unmarked to head two goals.
In the 19th minute the ice-cool Icelander nodded past Josh Lillis from Tom Cleverley's left wing cross.
Three minutes later Helguson again used his head following Graham's centre from the right to score his fourth goal in two starts.
Three minutes after the interval Bondz N'Gala, on loan from West Ham and a halftime substitute for Rob Jones, allowed Henri Lansbury to go past him and set up the chance for Graham to score with a low shot from 14 yards.
Unless manager Nigel Adkins can shore up his leaking defence - 35 goals conceded in 17 matches - Sc**thorpe will have a speedy return to League One.
Adkins said: "The goals we gave away, we were very disappointed with. They were very poor from a defensive viewpoint.
If we can't defend balls into the six-yard box we won't win games."
Watford: Loach 7 - Hodson 7, Mariappa 7, Cathcart 7, Doyley 7 - Cowie 6, Eustace 6, Lansbury 7, Cleverley 7 (Harley, 73mins) - *HELGUSON 9 (Ellington, 73mins), Graham 8 (Bryan, 85mins).
Sc**thorpe: Lillis 7 - Byrne 6, Mirfin 5, Jones 6 (N'Gala 46 min, 5), Friend 6 - Sparrow 5 (O'Connor, 46mins, 6), Togwell 6, Wright 6, Woodford 6 - Hooper 6, *HAYES 8.
Referee: C Sarginson 7.
