ITV No police action over AllenPublished: Monday, 9 November 2009, Gloucestershire Police have revealed no action will be taken against Martin Allen over the alleged nightclub incident which has resulted in him being put on gardening leave by Cheltenham. Allen was suspended by the League Two club last month after allegations emerged that he racially abused a nightclub bouncer, something he himself vehemently denies. Cheltenham have, as of Monday afternoon, yet to come to a decision over Allen's future at the club and insist no announcement will be made until their own investigation is complete. But Gloucestershire Police have now ended their interest in the case. A statement read: "There will be no further police action following recent media reports of an incident at a nightclub in Cheltenham. "Police have thoroughly investigated this alleged incident, which happened in September, and have spoken to a number of witnesses. Officers also formally interviewed the alleged offender on Friday, November 6. "The alleged victim made no formal complaint and the decision has now been made to take no further action." www.itv.com/sport/football/news/league2/generalnews/no-police-action-over-allen-56454856.html?

Martin Allen = An Unhinged Moron.
He should be sacked for going to a nightclub at his age, never mind the other stuff he might have done.

As I was saying...Mail
Cheltenham boss Martin Allen stays on gardening leave despite no police action over race abuse allegationsBy Neil Moxley on 09th November 2009 Stories Cheltenham manager Martin Allen has called in the League Managers' Association in a bid to clear his name. Allen was placed on gardening leave six weeks ago following allegations of racism made against him during an incident outside a nightclub. Gloucestershire Police have investigated and will not be pressing any charges against the former West Ham midfielder. However, Allen remains unclear as to his position with the Robins after his assistant John Schofield was placed in charge during his absence. Allen has turned to the managers' union in a bid to get himself reinstated to the post. It is thought he will receive legal backing from the Association as he thrashes out what he hopes to be a return to work. Cheltenham boss: Martin Allen left Leicester for his current post in 2008 Until then Allen has been informed that he remains on gardening leave with the club expected to make a comment on the outcome in the next 48 hours. A Gloucestershire police statement read: 'There will be no further police action following recent media reports of an incident at a nightclub in Cheltenham. 'Police have thoroughly investigated this alleged incident, which happened in September, and have spoken to a number of witnesses. Officers also formally interviewed the alleged offender on Friday, November 6. 'The alleged victim made no formal complaint and the decision has now been made to take no further action.' Allen, 44, was accused of shouting abuse and becoming aggressive after being refused entry to the Thirteen Degrees club in Cheltenham. The bouncer involved, Garry Saintil, claimed: ‘He was totally out of order. When he realised he wasn’t going to be allowed into the club he became insulting and aggressive. ‘There were racial undertones in the kind of language he was using and he referred to me as a “black *******”. At one point, he challenged me to come across to the car park opposite for a fight.’ In a statement to the League Managers’ Association shortly after the incident, Allen said: 'A number of false and grossly untrue allegations have recently been made about me in relation to an alleged incident outside a nightclub a few weeks ago, including the completely untrue allegation that I made a racial remark. ‘I wish to confirm that these allegations are untrue and deeply hurtful to me and I will now be taking appropriate steps to clear my name. In the meantime, I will be making no further comment.’ www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1226389/Cheltenham-boss-Martin-Allen-stays-gardening-leave-despite-police-action-race-abuse-allegations.html?

I don't like Allen, and I don't rate him as a manager, however I can not see how Cheltenham can 'legally' not give him his job back. According to the law he has done nothing wrong, so not sure how they can dismiss him.
I am sure at the end of the day it will all come down to money!

Always interesting to see Fan Trust/Clubs interaction - I'm sure in general, clubs hate them and much prefer compliant fans! But they do a valuable service Cheltenham Official Site
Chairman responds to Trust Posted on: Wed 11 Nov 2009 Cheltenham Town chairman Paul Baker has responded to criticism of the Board from the Supporters Trust in the media today: The club notes the comments of Robins Trust Chairman Clive Gowing in today's Echo and fully understands and appreciates the frustration felt by him and indeed all supporters at the lack of information coming from the club at the present time, in particular regard to the managerial situation. However, for legal reasons we are unable to comment further at this time. Article continues Advertisement The club appreciates too the efforts of the Trust in supporting the club and generating funds. Indeed, I was one of the founder members and have always supported it - and still do. I enjoy a very open relationship with the Trust and attend their AGM. The Trust is fully aware of the Board's requirement that to be considered for a place on the Board the Trust must generate £100,000. This equates to how much a new Director joining the Board would have to contribute. The Board has also just agreed that the Trust can present to two Board meetings a year. It is frustrating that more fans have not joined the Trust. At the present time its membership is 100 or so and one wonders how representative they therefore are of the 3000 or so fans who regularly support the club? The club would therefore urge fans to join, to get involved and to bring forward the day when the Trust can be represented on the Board. I say 'when the Trust can be represented on the Board' because the supporters already are represented. All of the current directors are fans of the club who stood on the terraces for many years before becoming directors. The club has traditionally been very open with fans, more so than any other Football League club, but unfortunately that openness backfires when for very good reason the club is unable to comment on issues which are private and confidential. www.ctfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10434~1873191,00.html

Cheltenham Official Site - Club Statement Posted on: Thu 12 Nov 2009 The present uncertainty regarding the managerial situation at the football club is clearly of concern to everyone associated with it. The club can now advise that it has almost concluded its investigation into media allegations made against Martin Allen and hopes to be in a position to make a further announcement shortly. The serious nature of the allegations meant that the investigation had to be very thorough and of necessity a little time consuming. The club has always tried to be as open and forthcoming with supporters as possible but there will always be situations where some issues must remain absolutely confidential. The Directors remain committed to taking the football club forward. Without question we are experiencing very difficult times which is why we are extremely grateful to our supporters for their continued understanding and support.
