Getting crazyFA investigate bets on Burscough match
Lancashire Evening Post Tony Dewhurst The Football Association are ready to investigate 'unusual betting patterns' which led to bookmakers refusing to accept wagers on Redditch's Conference North clash against Burscough last month. All 12 major bookmaking firms suspended betting 24 hours before the November 28 fixture after reporting unusual volumes of money being gambled. The only firm to continue accepting bets was Betfair – the betting exchange where punters gamble against each other. They matched wagers totalling £15,000 on the fixture. An FA spokesman said: "We are aware of reports and we are investigating the matter." He would not confirm or deny that a number of substantial bets had allegedly been placed in the names of members of the Redditch squad. Redditch vice-chairman Ken Rae said: "We have not been made aware of the suspension of betting on our match with Burscough or any apparent accusation. "We did have a change of playing personnel, but no big injury problems. "We still have not had word from the Football Association, but if and when we do we will co-operate fully." Burscough won the game 2-1, Craig Davies and Peter Heler on the mark for the Linnets. Burscough's Peter Heler scored against Redditch United and also in the weekend's 2-2 home draw with Hyde United. www.lep.co.uk/nonleague-football/FA-investigate-bets-on-Burscough.4773553.jp

It's sad but if La Liga and SerieA players and refs are fixing games then it's hardly a suprise if it's going on in the lower leagues. I fully expect a scandal involving CCC or Prem teams to be uncovered soon.
