Noel Blake's team had already won their first group game against Finland on Friday, so this follow-up victory means they qualify for the next stage with a game in hand. Newcastle United striker Ryan Donaldson got things underway with a goal shortly before half time and Chelsea's Jacob Mellis got the second in the 63rd minute. The victory was complete when substitute Roarie Deacon notched from the penalty spot just over ten minutes from time to see England head to the next stage of this season's competition. England will be in action next when they take on Slovakia on Wednesday afternoon. England 2-0 Slovakia UEFA European U19 Championship First Qualifying Round 2pm, Wednesday 14 October Lendava, Slovenia Noel Blake's England U19 team finished their group stage with a flourish on Wednesday afternoon, with a 2-0 win over Slovakia sealing top spot and a 100 per cent record. The Young Lions had already qualified for the next stage of the competition with a game in hand after winning their first two games against Finland and Slovenia, but this victory and topping the group now means that England will be seeded for the draw of the Elite Qualifying Round. That will take place next year, and the team who finish top of their Elite Round group will progress to the European Championship Finals in France during the summer. Wednesday's game was a tight affair to begin with and after a goal-less first half, it was Tottenham Hotspur's Ryan Mason who gave England the lead in the 64th minute. It was a lead they held onto, before Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis added a second goal in added time, his third in successive games, to secure the win and progress to the Elite Round.
