Gorman tipped for Blues returnSaturday 10th October 2009 FORMER Wycombe chief John Gorman could be set for a sensational return to Adams Park. The ex-England assistant manager was at Priestfield Stadium this afternoon to see the Blues lose 3-2 to Gillingham. He was sitting close to Wanderers MD Steve Hayes and was seen taking notes throughout the game leading to speculation that he could be set to return to Adams Park as succesor to Peter Taylor. Gorman would be a popular choice with Blues fans. He led the club to the brink of promotion previously only to miss out as double tragedy hit the club. He lost his own wife to Cancer and the club was also rocked by the death of midfielder Mark Philo in a car crash. He was controversially sacked by Hayes who felt his mind wasn't on the job as he was still grieving the loss of his wife Myra. Gorman was angry at the time but later accepted he did need more time to grieve. The pair have remained friends since. Gorman is currently assistant manager at Championship side QPR. Sources close to the club say they are expecting Wanderers to formally announce their new manager on Monday.www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/sport/4675614.Gorman_tipped_for_Blues_return/

Or Bobby Downes? Sunday Mirror COME ON DOWNES By Michael Morgan 11/10/2009 Wycombe want Wally Downes to take over as boss from sacked Peter Taylor. Former England Under-21 chief Taylor, 56, was axed on Friday after just 17 months in the Chairboys hot-seat. Taylor, who has also managed Southend, Leicester, Hull, Brighton and Crystal Palace, paid the price for Wanderers' tumble into the League One drop zone. Now Downes heads owner Steve Hayes's short-list to take over at Adams Park. The 48-year-old, who was in charge at Brentford for two years, is one of the most respected coaches in the lower leagues having worked alongside Steve Coppell at both Palace and Reading. He is currently coaching on a consultancy basis with Southampton following his departure from the Madejski Stadium last May www.mirror.co.uk/sport/more-sport/2009/10/11/come-on-downes-115875-21737935/

Bucks Free Press/Dave Peters - 11th October 2009 - QPR's Gorman rules himself out of the running-
JOHN Gorman has ruled himself out of the running to be the next Wycombe Wanderers manager. - Gorman, who managed the Blues to the brink of promotion three years ago, was at The Priestfield Stadium yesterday to see the Blues go down 3-2 to Gillingham. - But he says he was there on a scouting mission for his current club QPR and not because he is being lined up as the successor to the sacked Peter Taylor at Adams Park. - He told the Free Press this morning: “I was at Gillingham because Jim Magilton (Rangers manager) had asked me to go along to watch one of their players. It is just a coincidence that the game was against Wycombe. - “I haven’t spoken to anyone about the Wycombe job. I haven’t been approached and from what I understand they have got someone in mind. - “It’s nice to be complimented and to hear that some people would want me back but I am very happy at QPR working with Jim Magilton. - “I wish whoever gets the Wycombe job good luck and they will always be able to come to me looking for players on loan.” -
