Nothing to do with QPR, but quite an amazing apology from Exter.

STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF EXETER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
Posted on: Mon 01 Dec 2008
Following an article that appeared in the Express and Echo on Saturday 29th November reporting on comments attributed to Exeter City's Commercial Director Paul Morrish, the Board of Exeter City Football Club would like to make a full and unreserved apology to our main club sponsors Flybe.
The statements do not represent the Club, and do not show the enormous respect we have for Flybe, neither do they reflect the nature of the relationship, Flybe's commitment to our Club and the Board's desire to retain Flybe as our main club sponsor.
The club has not yet finalised a new deal beyond this current season, although discussions with Flybe have been progressing very well. We hope that the contents of the article will now not jeopardise our ability to get the right deal for our club from our long-standing partners Flybe.
With reference to specific comments in the article, we would firstly like to apologise for the disrespectful nature of suggestions that may imply the Club was unhappy with its relationship with Flybe. This does not reflect the Board's desire to reach a new deal with Flybe given the loyalty, generosity and credibility they offer us.
Secondly to infer in the article that the Club due to its new league status standing has the new found ability to force sponsors arms into expensive sponsorship deals, again is both unrealistic and not reflective of our culture. Equally we have been delighted that Flybe, as is the nature of the relationship, have willingly entered negotiations, and we are rapidly getting close to an agreement going forward. Flybe have vast experience in football sponsorship and to suggest we could force a deal was never the case.
Thirdly, Flybe have consistently stated that the reason they entered into a relationship with Exeter City was due to their genuine desire to be part of the community and to reinvest in bodies that are at the heart of said communities. The relationship has always gone beyond pure financial drivers. Flybe have for the last 6 years supported our Club way and above the pure contractual obligations, and therefore to suggest that the Club has sought to find purely the largest financial deal undermines the support, commitment and credibility that Flybe have brought over many years.
As a result the Board of ECFC will be rearranging our internal relationship management team with immediate effect and will be reviewing its internal procedures and will apply these as soon as is practicable.
It is important to state that the Club and its Board have no conflict with Flybe and are& very keen to continue to work together, and hope that this apology goes some way to correcting the false impression given in the article.
Finally, we apologise for the misguided public statements that were made last week and hope we can find a way forward with Flybe to continue to work together and build on what has up until now been an excellent relationship.
