(If you answered "Gianni", you'd be wrong
As I recall, the rumoured transfer fee when we signed him was around a million. And contrary to what's been asserted: I do NOT recall there being general approval for him when he joined on loan/or calls to sign him permanently. ) Former Bolton and Fulham striker Heidar Helguson has re-signed for Watford By Frank Smith » Watford legend Heidar Helguson has completed his protracted loan move back to the Hornets. Helguson has been linked with a return to the club where he made his name for weeks but after a four-year absence, the Iceland international is back at Vicarage Road until the end of December. The 32-year-old, who will not feature in tonight's game at Plymouth, was a fans favourite during his five-and-a-half years in Hertfordshire and scored 55 league goals in 132 games after arriving from Lillestrom. QPR made Watford aware of Helguson’s availability shortly before the close of the transfer window a few weeks ago but the two sides were unable to conclude the deal in time. Helguson, who left the Hornets for Fulham in 2005 in a £1.3m move, is out of favour with new Rangers boss Jim Magilton following the arrival Watford target Jay Simpson, despite only completing his permanent move from Bolton in January. The striker has only made 59 starts in the four seasons since leaving Watford, scoring 22 goals in total, with a large proportion of his displays coming from the bench. During his loan switch, QPR have agreed to contribute to a considerable proportion of the striker’s wages. The arrival of Helguson is sure to end any speculation linking Watford with a move for Sunderland’s David Healy. www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/localsport/4629319.Heidar_completes_Hornets_return/

A nice gift. Did we have to do that in order to move him?

Look we obviously have an embarassment of goalscorers right now at Loftus Road: That's why we got rid of Blackstock. So with so many, probably pays to move them out.

A nice gift. Did we have to do that in order to move him? Yup. We paid most of Yrag's wages at Brighton as well. Both super signings

Aging was watching on Sat. So he may play tonight with Soupy Campbell, or still only one striker?

So we buy awful players for big money then lend em out free, that sounds like a charity, like help out the downtrodden and give them work. Well it may be the best thing we do and in line with our Heritage, that of ST. Jude, who is the patron saint of hopeless cases.

Well, we're not saying that agents are paying kickbacks, are we?
Just to place inept players at struggling Clubs. On inflated wages and long contracts. At the cost of enormous losses to the Clubs in question.
And we're not saying that anyone at any particular Club is receiving kickbacks from agents on that basis, are we?
Because that would hardly be in the Clubs' interests, even if the potential for making money for the individuals involved was considerable.
It would be against the Club's interests, too, so we can't suppose that the Club's representatives would be involved.
Even in the case of individuals who voted on whether conflicts between board members' interests and the Club's should be permitted without disclosing whether such dealings were advantageous or profitable to the individual in question, or how much that individual realized for himself as a result.
Even if such a vote was carried, and even if the Board did authorise conflicts of that kind, wouldn't they be against league rules?
There must be some other explanation, whether it is immediately apparent or not.

Watford Happy Watford Observer 'The signing of Manchester United's Craig Cathcart and QPR's Heidar Helguson was essential' Friday 18th September 2009 By Frank Smith » Watford legend Heidar Helguson and fellow new signing Craig Cathcart will not just walk straight into the side but Malky Mackay claims their additions to the squad were essential. Helguson was a fans’ favourite during his initial five-and-a-half year spell at Vicarage Road, when he scored 64 goals for the club, and the Iceland international is now back in the yellow of Watford after joining on loan from Queens Park Rangers until the end of December. The 32-year-old re-joined the Hornets on Tuesday in a deal which the Watford Observer understands will see Rangers pay almost half the striker’s wages during his temporary return and didn’t involve a loan fee. The previous day Watford beat a host of clubs to the loan signing of highly-rated Manchester United defender Cathcart until January and Mackay insists the pair’s arrival was crucial. The Hornets boss said: “Nobody walks into the side. You are here on merit, you play on merit and you get into the team on merit, in terms of the way you train, apply yourself, play and your attitude. “But what we need here is a squad of players that are going to give everything and at the moment if we have one or two suspensions or injuries we really are down to bare bones. “So right now I need as many experienced Championship players on the pitch as possible to add to the young guys that are coming through and the talent that I have already got at the club. “So players coming into the club are coming to add to the group and I see both these players doing that.” The majority of fans have welcomed the return of Helguson, who is the club’s joint 13th highest goalscorer and would make his 200th Watford appearance if he features tomorrow (Saturday). Mackay did not play alongside Helguson, as the Scot arrived a couple of months after the striker moved to Fulham in the summer of 2005, but he is a big fan of the former Bolton Wanderers man. Mackay said: “Heidar Helguson is a player I admire in terms of playing against him and watching him in the last couple of years and is someone who brings experience into the group. “He also brings an aerial presence and a goalscoring threat.” Watford pulled off a major coup with the capture of 20-year-old Cathcart, who was Plymouth Argyle’s young player of the year last season during his 32-game loan spell at Home Park. Cathcart was on the verge of signing for Newcastle United before the transfer window closed a couple of weeks ago but after that fell through, Watford swooped to secure the signing of the centre-back, who received his first full Northern Ireland call up in the summer. Mackay said: “Craig Cathcart was subject to a rather large bid last week that didn’t go through and we have been monitoring him for months. “I remember him last year playing 30-odd games for Plymouth, he is a young player, a Manchester United talent, who has played at international level for his country, Northern Ireland, and has Championship experience. “He is a central defender who is comfortable playing in the Championship and is what we needed in the club. “We lost Mike Williamson and Craig gave Sir Alex a phone call and discussed it with him and Sir Alex felt it was right for Craig to come here and then Craig decided himself that it was right to come here. “So we are delighted to get him on board and if he settles in half as well as Tom Cleverley and Henri Lansbury then I will be delighted with that.” www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/4635609.Helguson_and_Cathcart_won_t_walk_into_starting_XI/

"During his loan switch, QPR have agreed to contribute to a considerable proportion of the striker’s wages."FFS! What a brilliant mastermind GP is. He knows helguson isn't scoring so he should ruin Watfords own chances of a good season and make it one less club for us to worry about. Sheer genious if not audacious.
