Rotherham United Statement
Following the speculation regarding the position of Rotherham United manager Mark Robins the Club Chairman Tony Stewart has made the following statement:
"Mark Robins has confirmed that his talks with Barnsley FC are not yet concluded and as such whilst he remains our manager, it has been agreed that he will take a period of gardening leave until the matter is resolved. We will keep fans updated as and when further developments occur and wish to confirm that preparations for Saturday's game with Chesterfield will take priority at this moment in time."

BBC Robins placed on gardening leave Robins was appointed Rotherham boss in March 2007 Rotherham United have placed manager Mark Robins on gardening leave while he holds talks about the Barnsley job. The Reds are looking for a new boss following Simon Davey's departure at the weekend and Robins did not take training at United on Thursday. Millers chairman Tony Stewart told BBC Radio Sheffield: "At this stage Mark Robins is in discussions with Barnsley. "We all hope at Rotherham United that Mark makes the correct decision and stays and finishes what he's started." It is believed that Robins, 39, can be released from his contract if a specific compensation fee is paid by the approaching club. Mark is a young ambitious manager and came across very well. He ticks all the boxes Barnsley director Don Rowing Barnsley are currently bottom of the Championship after picking up just one point from their opening five games. Robins took charge of Rotherham, who are second in League Two, in March 2007. Reds director Don Rowing told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Mark is a young ambitious manager and came across very well. He ticks all the boxes. "However we can't make a final decision until he has spoken to our owner Patrick Cryne. Rotherham United Football Club yesterday evening received a formal approach from Barnsley Football Club requesting permission to speak with John Breckin, Steve Taylor and Nick Daws.
All three were contacted individually by telephone and asked if they wished to speak with Barnsley FC
All three confirmed that they did and were simultaneously given permission and placed on 'gardening leave' until the outcome of their discussions is resolved.
Head of Youth Steve Thornber will take charge of first team affairs during the period of the current coaching staff's 'gardening leave' and will be assisted by senior professional Paul Warne and Chief Scout Alan Crawford.
The Board of Directors at Rotherham United Football Club will continue to work towards having these issues resolved and concluded at the earliest possible opportunity
