BOOTHROYD NAMED U'S BOSSPosted on: 02.09.2009 Aidy Boothroyd has been appointed as the new Manager of Coca-Cola League 1 side Colchester United. The former Watford boss replaces Paul Lambert who left Layer Road last month to take over at Norwich City. The 38-year-old has been out of management since leaving the Hornet's in November 2008 and he will be unveiled to the press at a lunchtime press conference at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Boothroyd took charge of Watford in March 2005, steering them to promotion to the Premier League in 2006, beating Leeds United 3-0 in the Championship Play-Off Final at the Millennium Stadium. The Hornet's found life in the top flight tough and finished bottom of the table the following May, picking up 28 points from their 38 games. They reached the Play-Offs again at the end of the 2007/08 season, losing to the eventual winners Hull City in the Semi-Finals. In total Boothroyd took charge of 176 games, winning 65, losing 60 and drawing 51. www.football-league.co.uk/league1/news/boothroyd-named-us-boss-20090902_2248206_1785444
