Also good to see Tony Roberts' Dagenham doing well [Ex-QPR youth Barry Conlon sent off for Grimsby!] BBC - Grimsby 1 - 2 AldershotScott Donnelly's goals helped Aldershot to their first away win of the season at the expense of nine-man Grimsby. Donnelly headed the Shots into the lead after Danny North had his strike disallowed for the hosts. The scorer then grabbed his second after beating keeper Tommy Forecast at the second attempt before Barry Conlon headed in a late goal for Grimsby. Grimsby ended the match with nine men after Conlon and Adam Proudlock were sent off for their part in a melee. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aldershot manager Gary Waddock told BBC Surrey:"It was a good performance. We showed both sides of the game today - good in possession of the football, and Grimsby had a real good go at us in the second half. We've won on the road. "I've known [Scott Donnelly] since he was a young player. He used to do that regularly in the youth team at QPR. He needs a run of games at this level to get his confidence. The way he's playing and the goals he's scoring, he'll be full of confidence." news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_3/8220760.stm

Aldershot Match Reportwww.theshots.co.uk/newspage.ink?nid=31564&newstype=m&matchid=8418Aldershot Official Site - Waddock Comments "We are highly delighted with the victory. We said before the game to the players that we should have got something here last season. We showed in our game today both sides of our game. We were professional and we got the result that we thoroughly deserved. "Scott Donnelly's goals were well taken and we had chances in the first half to have taken the game out of their reach. It was an excellent team performance. We defended excellently and the pleasing aspect is that the work we are doing on the training ground is paying dividends. We know where our downfall was last season in conceding too many goals and we have tried to address that. "We are a decent footballing side and can pass but that is not good enough alone and we are now showing that we can dig in to get the result and we did that today and must continue to do so too. We needed to put the away results to bed- not the performances- and I hope we have done that today." www.theshots.co.uk/newspage.ink?nid=31568&newstype=n&matchid=
