Grzegorz Rasiak Moves On Polish striker Grzegorz Rasiak has joined Championship side Reading for an undisclosed fee... The 30-year old Polish international has made just one competitive Saints start this season under Alan Pardew and has made it clear that he sees his future away from League One. Pardew omitted Rasiak from his last matchday squad amid rumours that a deal was imminent, and Royals boss Brendan Rodger's has today been able to confirm that he has finally landed his man. Rasiak was initially brought to Southampton on loan by George Burley in February 2006 and signed permanently in May of the same year in a deal worth around £2 million. An impressive haul of 21 goals then followed in his first full season at St. Mary's, including an unforgettable last minute goal in the play-off semi-final at Pride Park in May 2007. With Derby leading Saints 2-1 from the first leg at St Mary's, and the scores finely poised at 2-2 in the second, Saints were just fifteen minutes from elimination when Rasiak was thrown into the fray. The yellow sea of Saints fans behind the Derby goal were sent into a frenzy as Rasiak's 's 89th minute strike leveled things at 4-4 on aggregate and he slid to his knees in celebration. Loan spells with both Bolton and Watford then followed in subsequent campaigns before today's move to the Madejski Stadium was finally secured.
