Football Fan Census
Fans asked to vote on favourite League Cup memories
Football fans are being asked to nominate their favourite moments from the history of the League Cup to celebrate the 50th year of the competition.
This season's final is set to take place on February 28th, with the Football League planning on revealing the competition's top 50 moments ahead of kick-off.
Voters will be added into a draw with 50 pairs of tickets available to be won for the final.
Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney said: "Fifty years is an important milestone for the Football League's showpiece cup competition. More than 78 million fans have watched matches in the League Cup since 1960.
"The League Cup is essential to the financial welfare of English professional football. Through television revenue and gate receipts it generates the income that sustains the most developed professional football pyramid in the world."
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson also highlighted the important role the competition plays in giving stars of the future the opportunity to gain first-team experience.
Both David Beckham and Paul Scholes gained their debuts for the reigning English Premier League champions in the competition.
Meanwhile, today's crop of young stars including Danny Welbeck and Darren Gibson were also regular members of the team that lifted the trophy last season.
Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur in a penalty shoot-out to lift the trophy after the game had finished goalless after 90 minutes and extra time.
