Goal.com - Watford Linked With Chelsea Youngsters After Appointment Of Rodgers
After appointing former Chelsea youth and reserve coach Brendan Rodgers as Watford manager, the Hornets are being linked with Blues youngsters...
Championship club Watford yesterday announced the appointment of former Chelsea youth and reserve team coach Brendan Rodgers as manager.
Already the Hornets are being linked with bringing a number of the Blues' starlets to Vicarage Road, with the likes of Scott Sinclair and Ben Sahar tipped to join on loan in January.
However, it is also rumoured that London rivals Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace are also interested in the pair, although Watford may now have an upper hand following Rodgers' appointment.
Meanwhile, Watford chairman Graham Simpson has revealed that the club looked at plenty of options before opting to bring in the Northern Irishman and insists they have definitely made the best possible move.
"We interviewed a number of very good candidates and he came out on top," said Simpson.
"He has some great ideas and philosophies. He is about the community, the academy and playing the right type of football and is the right man for us.
"He had 10 years at Reading which gave him a good pedigree and then he moved on to Chelsea. You don't survive at Chelsea unless you're very good indeed.
"We will stay in the Championship, I believe that sincerely."
