Good luck to him BBC - Cobblers sign up defender CurtisNorthampton Town have signed the former Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest defender John Curtis on an initial one-year contract. The 30-year-old - who began his career at Old Trafford in 1997 - impressed Cobblers manager Stuart Gray during a spell on trial at Sixfields. "John has got a fantastic pedigree and we've seen his quality," said Gray. "His use of the ball is first-class and he has the knowledge to do the right thing at the right time." He added: "You only have to look at some of the clubs he's played for. "He can play at right-back but can also do the holding role in midfield, and should be a big influence for us both on the field and in the dressing room." Curtis made 19 appearances for Manchester United before moving to Blackburn for £1.5m in 2003. He also had short spells with Leicester City, Queens Park Rangers and Portsmouth, and ended last season at Wrexham. news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/northampton_town/8174123.stm
