BBC - Bristol City aim for Lejsal loan Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is hoping Czech keeper Martin Lejsal can be signed by the Championship side. The 26-year-old kept a clean sheet in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Premier League newcomers Wolves. City now hope to persuade Lejsal's club FC Brno to allow him to move on a season-long loan deal to Ashton Gate. "With Adriano Basso still on the books we can't afford a transfer fee and big wages so it might suit us at this moment," Johnson told BBC Points West. "I'm going to talk to his representatives. He did everything asked of him (against Wolves) and he's a big lad who looks nice and solid." Midfielder Lee Johnson and defender Louis Carey both missed the Wolves friendly in which Danny Haynes and Nicky Maynard grabbed the goals. Johnson was suffering with cold symptoms and was sent home as a precaution, while Carey has been given compassionate leave after a family bereavement. City's David Clarkson hit the post early on before Haynes ran on to a pass from Maynard and finished with the outside of his right foot. Maynard added a second goal, beating keeper Wayne Hennessey with a 30-yard strike. Johnson added: "They were two fantastic goals and we had a couple of other chances as well that were good moves. Danny and Nicky were a constant threat." news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/b/bristol_city/8170111.stm

But wait... For The Game = NEWS STORYJohnson takes time on Lejsal Thursday 30 Jul 2009 Bristol City manager Gary Johnson is hoping to take a bit more time before deciding whether to offer a contract to goalkeeper Martin Lejsal. The 26-year-old has been with the Robins for just over a week and Johnson would like one more look at the man from the Czech Republic. He told the Evening Post: "I'm going to try to stretch it a bit if I can.
"These things are not always easy when you're dealing with people in another country, but, if I like him, we have every chance of getting him very soon."He's a good lad and he certainly looks the part. He's done everything we've asked him to do in the games he's played so far, but I'd like to see a bit more." www.4thegame.com/club/bristol-city-fc/news/242739/johnson_takes_time_on_lejsal.html
