No idea of how reflective this is. But from Vital Football Norwich "...City fans will be relieved to hear that Gunn's 'options' do not include former Canary goalkeeper and flapper extraordinaire, Andy Marshall however. 'Andy is someone I know and I spoke to him in the summer on a different subject, but my thoughts are that is not one I'm looking to progress,' he said." www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=159537

Virgin Media from a month ago London calling for Marshall 29 Jun 2009 Coventry goalkeeper Andy Marshall has spoken to three clubs as he prepares for his forthcoming release from the Ricoh Arena. The 34-year-old shot stopper was made aware before the end of last season that his contract would not be renewed, bringing an end to his three-year spell in the West Midlands. And with his current deal officially set to expire in the coming days, Marshall is giving one final thought to the offers on the table as he prepares for his next career move. "I have spoken to three clubs, two in the Championship and one in League One and hope to firm things up later this week when their managers are back from their holidays," he told the Coventry Telegraph. "Three have shown serious interest in me with the possibility of being first choice at a Championship and League One side and competing for a place at another Championship club."Location is a big factor for me and my family this time and I am looking to move nearer London." www.football.virginmedia.com/page/CoventryCity/NewsDetail/0,,12555~1705944,00.html

I watched him a few times at Millwall and he looked OK. Elvijs isn't ready to step up, Marshall has experience and is free so could be good back up to Cerny.

If you have to lay odds on Paladini signings vs Magilton signings: He sounds like a Magilton signing. Percolli: Well he SOUNDS like a Paladini signing (and the strong support Percolli is getting ...!

I just read that (Clive's post). ;D
Marshall is free, he has had a decent career, he's free, he isn't out of his depth at this level and will probably only play a couple of games if Cerny stays fit. Oh did I mention he's free...

Actually think a signing like this makes sense. This is the Fraser Digby solution an old pro, perhaps not too worried about getting splinters from sitting on a bench, would do a job if Cerny got injured and means we're not relying on a 17 year old as second choice.

If he's anything like Paul Jones, a similar type of signing by GP, then he will do for me.

well he wasnt the welsh International goalkeeper, who did famously until he played for us and then let in a boatload of goals against some european team and was retired.

Yes, OK, that is exactly what happened.!!! Every time he played for us though I was always confident in him and thought he was a very good buy after a while. If Marshall is anything like Jones in a Rangers shirt then on a free transfer and willing to sit on the bench most of the season for fair wages, sign him up and spend the money elsewhere. If he is a flapper then at least it would be a like for like replacement for Camp, whom whilst as a shot stopper is like David James, in a class above most, but on crosses again he is like David James, unfortunately.

You can trace Gunn's comments down to the fact that he displaced him as first choice keeper at Norwich...
Also he left for Ipswich when they were in the Uefa Cup, hence the fan bitterness!
