Tickets now available for Glentoran vs Maccabi HaifaTuesday 14th July Glentoran begin their UEFA Champions League campaign tomorrow evening as they travel to Israel to face Maccabi Haifa. The champions of Northern Ireland will face the Israeli champions over two legs, the first of which is tomorrow, while the return leg is set for Wednesday 22nd July at The Oval. Tickets for the 2nd leg are now on sale at the usual Glentoran ticket outlets. This will be the first competitive game of the new season as many players will have the opportunity to make their competitive first team debuts. Richard Clarke is likely to start in this Preliminary Round 2 tie to make his competitive debut, while Shane McCabe and Matty Burrows remain suspended after receiving red cards in last season’s European Cup. Young stars Andrew Hall, Jimmy Callacher and Craig Harris will be making the trip to Israel and also could make their competitive debuts tomorrow. Glens captain Paul Leeman is a doubt for the game through illness, while all other players remain fit and eligible for selection. BBC - Maccabi Haifa 6-0 Glentoran Glens skipper Paul Leeman played after recovering from a virus Glentoran conceded three goals in the last 10 minutes as they went down to a heavy defeat in the Champions League second round qualifier in Israel.
The Irish League side held out for 36 minutes in the first-leg game before Lior Rafaelov put Maccabi in front.
Yaniv Katan (52) doubled the lead and Vladimir Dvalishvili scored the third five minutes later.
Dvalishvili (81), Shlomi Arbeitman (83) and Momahed Shahbary (89) added late goals as the Glens tired.
Glentoran captain Paul Leeman started the game after being a doubt because of illness.
The return leg at the Oval is next Wednesday with the outcome of the qualifier effectively decided.

UEFA Champions League Preliminary Round 2 Maccabi Haifa 6 - 0 Glentoran Wednesday 15th July The Glens European dream was effectively over tonight as Maccabi Haifa overpowered the IFA Champions in a blistering second half. Having gone a goal down in the first half it looked as though Alan McDonald's men may be able to push on to equalise or keep the score-line respectable, however as the second half wore on the professional Maccabi took control and proved themselves as worthy winners.
Rafaelov put Haifa ahead after 36 minutes, leading into half time. The second half saw goals from Yaniv Katan (52), Vladimir Dvalishvili (57), to extend the Israeli lead.
As the game wore on the Glens tired and Dvalishvili (81), Shlomi Arbeitman (83) and Momahed Shahbary (89) sealed the comprehensive win for the Israeli side.
