Football Fan Census News Oldham Athletic and Rochdale discuss groundsharingLocal rivals Oldham Athletic and Rochdale have discussed the possibility of potentially sharing a football stadium in the future, it has been revealed. Speaking to BBC Manchester, the League One outfit's managing director Simon Corney made known that his club have approached Rochdale on the possible plan. The decision would not see Oldham Athletic move to play at Rochdale's Spotland home, but would see the development of a new ground. Corney said: "If the opportunity arose for two clubs who are struggling in the lower divisions to get a brand new facility, why not explore it. "I don't think it is just us. I think it is several clubs in the lower leagues and they were talking to their neighbours to see if it would make sense to move in together." The club's grounds are only just over six miles apart, while Mr Corney added that Stockport County are another option for his club to share a ground with. Current chairman Simon Blitz and two other partners bought the club in the 2004/05 season to prevent possible liquidation after they fell into administration in the previous season.
