Over the past year Conn has written on a range of subjects including the anniversary of Hillsbrough disaster and the growing levels of debt among English football clubs. A study conducted by Conn in June showed that last season's Premier League clubs owe £3.1bn between them. "Judging has been very interesting with some new contenders not considered in previous years," said Ian Todd, president of Football Supporters' Federation and chairman of the judging panel. "Several nominators singled out coverage of the Hillsborough Anniversary as worthy of recognition. I am delighted to say that David has won the award."
