No City future for Henri, but Kelly and Francis play waiting game
STOKE City will not be renewing their interest in Senegal striker Henri Camara, but a decision has yet to be made on fellow loanee Stephen Kelly.
And the future of managerial consultant Gerry Francis remains up in the air as boss Tony Pulis begins assessing his options for next season.
Camara’s exit comes as no great surprise after he made just four substitute appearances following his arrival from Wigan in late January.
Kelly has also been sparingly used after figuring in half-a-dozen fixtures since he was signed on loan from Birmingham just under four months ago.
But Pulis said: “That is a situation we are still looking at and still undecided about.”
The destiny of Kelly is further complicated by reports from the West Midlands that Stoke are committed to a financial compensation package to Birmingham if they pull out of a permanent deal.
Francis, meanwhile, has spoken with Pulis about the possibility of remaining for a second campaign after successfully linking up with Stoke last autumn.
But travelling at least twice a week from the Home Counties, together with concern over his son’s fledgling career, have left Francis undecided for the moment.
“Gerry will have a couple of weeks away to see how he feels, then we’ll have another chat about things,” Pulis disclosed.
“There’s no pressure from me and we’ll wait for Gerry to decide what he wants.”
Stoke are hoping to entice attractive Spanish opposition to the Britannia Stadium as they continue working to fill the three vacancies left in their pre-season diary.
That fixture is pencilled in for Friday, August 7, while two gaps must also be filled during their week in Austria between July 15 and 22.
Stoke have already arranged summer workouts against league opposition at Preston (July 25), Nottingham Forest (July 29) and Derby (August 1).
