MIRROR Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren to be poached from Posh to manage Wigan Exclusive By Darren Lewis 30/05/2009
Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren is in line to succeed Steve Bruce at Wigan.
Ferguson has just enjoyed back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship with Peterborough, confirming his managerial potential, and Wigan supremo Dave Whelan is a huge admirer of his motivational abilities.
It is unclear, however, whether Ferguson would be keen to take the job, having said that Peterborough have what it takes to gain an incredible third promotion in a row, this time to the Premier League.
He will also be mindful of the experience of Paul Ince, who was thrust into the hotseat at Blackburn after winning promotion with MK Dons, only to be sacked prematurely at Ewood Park.
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has also been linked with the Wigan manager’s job but is said to be wanted by Spanish side Real Sociedad.
