Not sure why we would sack Sousa & replace him with Gianluca Vialli ?? What / Where is the thinking behind this ? Where is the progress ? Dont feel strongly about Vialli one way or the other, I'm just not sure what if any kind of thinking is behind this ?! Also does this mean Paladini is still buying players for QPR ? Dear Oh Dear, wake me up in 12 months time, Its Groundhog day

If you think back to the De Canio appointment and the Sousa appointment, and lesser to the Dowie appointment, it very much looked like Briatore had no firm favourite. Could have gone a dozen different ways.
Looks the same this time. He doesn't seem to say I want THIS one guy...And I'll do anything to get him. (Very much the opposite to some of our previous Chairmen)

Hmmm not overly impressed. So much for all the talk about a British manager with Championship experience that had gained promotion recently. Instead we have another of Flavs mates who last managed in 2002 (but that is ok according to Pete as he has been working on Sky Italia ) Does this mean that no British manager would touch the post with a bargepole?

If pete says it ,it wont be Vialli. That name made the rounds last time. But even if its Mickey Mouse, he wont be around too long.

Wouldn't be that certain. Has a logic to it: He's Italian. He did terribly at Watford. He hasn't managed here for seven years. Yes sounds like the kind of guy we would appoint. (And those who cite his Chelsea success ignore so much) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gianluca_Vialli

What the Watford fans thought. That great Watford online Fanzine (sadly now defunct) Blind Stupid and Desperate The Gaffer: Gianluca Vialli May 2001 - July 2002 By Andy Barnard www.bsad.org/gaffer/vialli.html

"He then took up an offer to manage First Division club Watford in 2001-02. Despite making wholesale and expensive changes to the playing and coaching staff, the Hertfordshire side finished an unimpressive 14th and Vialli was sacked after one year. Following this, he was drawn into a lengthy dispute with the club over the payment of the remainder of his contract."
Loved his book though!

We dont know what he will do or what the future is. We do know one thing. He has no clue how to run a football club. His actions show that. He just keeps fumbling around and throwing money away. Minimal pre season, no buys, says a new pitch, new restaurants.
He can do those. He trusts no one. Last time he did and got names they didnt suit him. Finally who would want it. Is there someone in his family that needs a job.?

Not sure why we would sack Sousa & replace him with Gianluca Vialli ?? What / Where is the thinking behind this ? Board's process: Take 1 dartboard, substitute numbers with managers' names, grab two handfulls of darts and throw at dartboard. Call every manager hit, start lenghty negotiations where candidates are played off against each other (e.g. Tell manager A that manager B will do it for £5000 cheaper a week and so on). Work out best deal, not best candidate and announce it as a significant step in the rebuilding of the QPR world-wide brand and a whole new era of boutique football. Newpaper's process: Take 1 dartboard, substitute numbers with out of work managers' names.. Print the name of every manager on the board as a possibility. Go down pub. Buy a drink, sit down and wonder how you managed to waste your life to such a degree, it astonishes you.

Wonder if just having another Italian is something Briatore feels more comfortable with. Just from a cultural/linguistic perspective. If so Vialli gets a legs up. As did De Canio....
Or maybe Gianni was saving the Vialli option till some of the other no hopers were shown up....
And Vialli provides some glamour. Forget how he actually did at Watford. Just as Sousa did.

Nothing personal about Vialli, but he did arrive with a big, expensive entourage at Watford.
We were desperate to go straight back up to the Premiership. I remember we played clever football and we began the season admiring the passing ... until we twigged it was all just back and forth across the field with no real penetration or attacks.
By the time we realized what was happening we were doomed to end mid-table - and the cost of disbanding the Vialli roadshow was ruinous.
Good luck if you go this route. But ... if you're the richest club in the UK why don't you go for a PROVEN high profile manager?

Thanks for that. Hopefully we won't have to compare experiences about Glen Roeder!
I Loved the Watford Fanzine Blind Stupid and Desperate. And when a few years back, we were signing all the ex-Watford players, I was very impressed by the various reports on the players in the fanzine.

Although I doubt very much he will get the job, the mere thought of Vialli as boss fills me with dread. If it did happen then we can only hope that he has learned from his mistakes and passing his coaching badges after his stint at yours have made him a better manager.
