Former Manchester United boss Tommy Docherty, dismissed nine days ago as manager of Queens Park Rangers, is dramatically re-instated. Chairman Jim Gregory says: "We have settled our differences and he is moving south to live"

Fans wrote letters and the players sent a deputation to ask for Docherty's return. QPR would finish the season four points short of promotion to the First Division and, in October 1980, Tommy would be sacked again. He later claimed, ï¿½I sacked Queens Park Rangers once and they later sacked me twice.ï¿½

He left for Australia, returned to manage Preston North End, went back to Australia, returned to manage Woverhampton Wanderers, before finishing his long managerial career at Altrincham. Tommy was never short of a memorable quote. On leaving one of his many clubs, he recalled: "hey offered me a handshake of ï¿½10,000 to settle amicably. I told them that they would have to be a lot more amicable than that."

At Rotherham...at QPR!...At Aston Villa. At Hull. At Wolves. At QPR. At Derby. He took Man Ut down.

Obviously he has an aura. And he liked to play wingers. And he liked to buy and sell! But when you look closely at what he actually accomplished (ok a couple of trophies for Man Ut!) But very very over rated. But because he has a "personality"

Well there was Dean Neal. And he did buy Tommy Langley: So Goddard and Allen or Neal and Langley (or play Bob Hazell up front). Hmmm!

To be fair, there was one good thing he did do: He give youth a chance: At QPR at least.

To add a certain insult to injury was the statement issued on the Official site just a few hours after posting the new prices "Record Sales"

QPR 1st Supporters Trust is disappointed in the substantial rises in season ticket prices for next season. We note that some fans will be paying more than 50 per cent more for seats next season. While we note that support is on the increase, we feel that there is little doubt that some fans will be priced out of seats that they have held for many years. We also remind the club of the negative effect on season ticket sales and goodwill that occurred when tickets prices rose in 2005-6.
The failure to offer discounts for early bird renewals for which there is a long standing precedent, shows a lack of respect for loyal fans who have followed the club through thick and thin.
We feel that the club's assertion of record sales on the basis of a morning's trading seems premature and is at odds with the feedback the trust has been receiving.
The trust looks forward to Deputy Managing Director's Ali Russell appearance at the Trust AGM on Tuesday 27th May so that fans can discuss the new pricing structure and other matters with him.

We remain appreciative of Mr Briatore, Mr Ecclestone and Mr Mittal for stepping in and rescuing QPR financially after a very difficult time. Yet we believe that the Board should also appreciate that the loyal supporters and season ticket holders we represent have stood by the Club in good times and bad and have contributed a significant part of their income towards the continuing survival and progression of QPR.

We are therefore extremely disappointed about the recent announcement concerning season ticket price rises and the way this announcement has been handled by the Club. We would not have been surprised if, for example, there was a 10% rise in the price of all tickets, to reflect the fact that as the Investors have contributed greatly to our club we as fans must share in that for the Club to go forward. But some of the rises are far more excessive and unreasonable than that. For example, the whole upper loft, traditionally the home for many longstanding loyal season ticket holders at Home games, has seen a price rise of 50% on adult tickets, from ï¿½400 to ï¿½600. In addition the tradition loyalty discount made available to season ticket holders who renew (something many clubs do) has been abolished.

Many of our fans have been hit by the current economic circumstances and credit crunch. Many simply cannot afford rises of up to 50%, particular families buying multiple tickets. Many long standing loyal fans will be forced out.

We are also unhappy by the way the Club has announced this decision. In the past the Board of QPR consulted with fans about the prices for season tickets, this time it has just been announced, and announced very late in the day making it even harder for some fans to pay.

In the circumstances we are writing this open letter to the Club to request a meeting with you to review the price rises. We would ask you to listen to our concerns and to reconsider at least some of the steepest rises in prices and abolition of the renewal discount that you have announced. QPR1st shall be advising all our members and supporters not to renew their season tickets until after the meeting.

EXCLUSIVE: BHATIA LOOKS AHEAD

Amit Bhatia is already looking forward to the start of the 2009/10 Coca Cola Championship campaign.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk from the United States, where he is currently on business, the QPR Holdings Ltd Vice Chairman revealed he is counting down the days to the new season.

"I'm missing the football already," he said.

"Of course we'd love to be involved in the play-off's right now, but it wasn't to be this year, but that doesn't mean we won't be involved in the shake up for promotion in 2009/10."

Bhatia added: "We've made fine progress this season.

"Our final point's total of 61 is the best we've registered in recent seasons and I firmly believe we've got a squad that can compete in the upper echelons of the Championship.

"We were very unlucky with injuries last season. We lost key players throughout the season, but we still occupied a top half place for the duration of the campaign, so if we can keep everyone fit, we'll have a great chance to progress even further over the next 12 months."

Bhatia revealed that the search for a new boss is a 'top priority' of the Board, and that talks are on-going with a number of interested applicants.

"We've talked to a lot of people and we're nearly there," he said.

"We didn't want to rush into making an appointment, because we know just how important this decision is.

"It affects everyone connected to the Football Club; the Board, the staff, the fans. It's a crucial decision."

With the Early Bird Season Ticket deadline looming, Bhatia also touched upon the role the QPR supporters will play next season, adding: "There were many highs and lows last season, but the fans stood by us through it all.

"I've said it before and I'll happily say it again, the fans are our twelfth man, be it home or away, and their support is vital.

"The atmosphere at Loftus Road is up there with the very best I've ever witnessed and I can't wait to see the ground rocking again at the start of the season."

When I first came to QPR HQ in 1980, the Doc was in charge. Allen & Goddard should never, ever have been sold. They were our spear headed attack for the next ten years. And what did Paul go on to achieve? He and Clive had a telepathic understanding that very few players get to have, and that alone should have kept them here. Was pretty pissed at the time.
