The obvious man to have as Director of Football at QPR - or to just have coach BBC Francis considers future at Stoke Gerry Francis is unsure if he will accept an offer to continue in his role as a coach at Stoke City next season. The 58-year-old, who turned down a similar role at Newcastle United, has been part of the backroom staff at the Britannia Stadium since September. "I've been approached about next year," Francis told BBC Radio Stoke. "But I'll have to think about it." "I've really enjoyed being here, but the travelling has been tough. I've done 60,000 miles since I arrived." Former England captain Francis, who managed in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, is based in London. And he has been making the journey north to help Stoke in training and on match days. The Potters secured their top-flight status with Saturday's 2-1 win at Hull. And Francis, Pulis's former manager at Bristol Rovers, insists that the Stoke boss should be a contender for 'Manager of the season'. "It's a fantastic achievement," said Francis. "Nearly everybody I know said that we would go down. "Whoever wins the title will probably win that award but, for me, Tony should definitely be in that category." news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/low/football/teams/s/stoke_city/8047861.stm

Why exactly would we want him back at Rangers ?? He made a terrible mistake coming back a second time, we need to try to move forward & look forward as a football club, we need to be more progressive, genuinely amazes me how many people have the rose tinted specs on at our football club, some people even seem to be serious about wanting "Ollie" back, Dear Oh Dear lol. Granted I'd rather have Gerry Francis as "Director Of Football" than the odious & poisonous Paladini, but even more I'd rather not have a "Director Of Football" at QPR, why ? because we dont need one at our club, cant believe we are going to start another season like this ??! lol

Because he wouldnt be manager. And wouldnt have the pressures. And because there's a degree of trust there. Look is he the best guy in the world? Perhaps not.

I don't see him coming in as Director of Football given the history! Though it wouldn't be wrong of him to accept the job there would be a certain amount of irony involved due to him leaving over the position being created in the first place! As a coach, that should be up to the manager and as manager, I agree with Eusebio, we need to move on. To have Gerry back at the club would be great though, he has a passion for us and with him steadying the ship and managing Briatore's investment, leaving the board with a hands off role, well.............................it's nice to dream!
