Goal.com - Adel Taarabt’s Knee Rehab Going Well Two weeks after knee surgery, the Moroccan youngster is experiencing no pain while jogging.Tottenham-owned midfielder Adel Taarabt is said to be recovering well from surgery conducted two weeks ago to repair a tear in the meniscus of his left knee. The injury was sustained while on loan with Queens Park Rangers, where he had been putting in some positive performances after benefitting from more playing time than he was earning at Spurs. “It’s better now. I’m running again and I don’t feel any pain, thank God,” said the former Lens player in an interview with Moroccan football website liondelatlas.net. Taarabt also took the opportunity to express his strong desire to play in his Morocco’s upcoming World Cup qualifier versus Cameroon in Yaounde on June 7. However, it is hard to imagine Tottenham will clear him for international duty given the fact that he is just returning from a surgical procedure and has already expressed his desire to leave the club in search of more playing time this summer. Allowing the trickster to take part in a physical away match with so much at stake would be foolish, since a recurrence of the injury could endanger a potential transfer. However, there is an outside chance that he will be included in Roger Lemerre’s squad so that he can travel and train with the team in preparation for an outing against Togo on the June 20. www.goal.com/en/news/89/africa/2009/05/13/1262236/adel-taarabts-knee-rehab-going-well

IF we get him, at best, I can see a season long loan, not an actual signing.

To get out of this division, you need players that play for the team, not sub Cristiano style showboaters. I really dont think Taarabt is what we want or need if we are serious about getting out of this division , I would take a good athletic young fullback over him anyday of the week, I certainly dont think he is as good as some people seem to think, & I think we have too much of that "Look At Me, Look At Me" mentality in our team already, too many showponys / headless chickens, not enough warhorses. I think we need more maturity & leadership next season, not a load of fancy flicks & tricks that impress the 17 year olds at the match but dont actually win you football matches. Just my twopence worth on the subject, Fullbacks & Strikers, not luxury items that we can do without IMO!

My twopence worth: Taarabt has the potential to go on and become a great left winger. He is 50% there. He is young and has astonishing skill and a talent that gives him great confidence. However it is this belief that let's him down as he needs to realise that a simple one touch with the side of the foot will control the ball and that not every touch has to be an amazing trick. If he can realise this and bring himself into the game more with neat one touch football with the midfield, the potential of him on one wing, Routledge on the other, linking up with Buz and Vine is an exceptionally strong attacking line up. Taarabt needs to learn that side of the game, keep on improving and then he will be unstoppable. I can see how he's ended up this way, he was obviously head and shoulders amongst the other players he played with as a youngster and back then everything did come off for him, probably. Now he has to raise his game to a higher standard and I believe he has the potential to do that based on his attitude. He always wants the ball, plays in position and is not afraid to get stuck in. In one game at home he was punched in the face by the full back and when he saw that the ref was looking the other way and missed it, simply carried on with the game and terrorised the full back even more with at least 3 more nutmegs before final whistle. That showed great attitude. In all address the manager situation first as he needs to sort out the full backs if Delaney is going and then if Taarabt will sign a 3 year deal, sign him up please. Even if Taarabt signs before the manager, I don't think the manager will mind having him in the squad. (I'm just saying that in case we get another Barrowdale situation!).
