Maybe institute a daily, or maybe weekly question....
It's such a simple, factual question (Not a subjective "who's better"?)
Anyway: The first Question (which has obviously been asked previously!):
Did, or did not Helguson take and pass a medical fitness test?
- Sousa supposedly scathing said "sickie" - Pete parrotting Paladini professes passed
[Follow up question is permitted, when get resolved]

Didn't he take two? Failed the first one, went away, came back, passed the second one and duly signed? So in fact everybody is correct!!

And Pete reopens the question (and looks at Helguson's QPR career) www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7550Of course I don't have to (can't) prove that Helguson failed a medical. I just know that Sousa said he did on that "famous" fan report posted on WATRB. And Pete immediately chimed in that he didn't (source?!)

I hope he did take a medical but nothing shocks me with our lot anymore.

So it's
Did Helguson take and pass a medical?
Did he take more than one medical?
Did Sousa really say that he failed a medical? (If so why did he say it)
And how did Pete, so quickly "find out" that Helguson passed a medical? (or at least was given the information that he passed)?
And a bonus question: why was Sousa Axed?!

This was how it was "reported" at the time. At the time, it seemed the dispute was more over the length of contract, and how long he'd be on loan at QPR before a permanent signing (See QPR Report November for various pieces qprreport.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html I guess questions might include: Did he have a fitness test before he signed on loan? Did he have a subsequent fitness test when signed permanently? QPR Report - November 26, 2008 After a Week of Sturm und Drang: Bolton's Helguson Joins QPR! - - So Heidar Helguson is joining QPR on loan! Of course, many readers of messageboards would know about this revived deal. But then again, pretty much only messageboard readers would even be aware of all the Sturm und Drang of the past week; and that Heguson wasn't already at QPR. According to the two clubs' official sites, the deal was done and dusted - and announced - almost a week ago. The Mirror - Striker Heidar Helguson completes QPR loan move - Bolton striker Heidar Helguson finally signed for QPR on loan yesterday after a switch to Charlton stalled. - The forward agreed a deal until January 1 when both parties will decide on a permanent move. Helguson's move to Rangers had twice fallen through in disputes over fitness, wages and the length of the loan contract. The Mirror Marc Iles/This is Lancashire - Helguson loan move nearing a conclusion- The mysterious case of Heidar Helguson’s loan move away from the Reebok would appear to finally be nearing a conclusion. The Iceland international found himself in limbo over the weekend after rejecting a transfer to Loftus Road at the 11th hour on Friday afternoon. Both clubs had earlier announced that the deal had been completed – but when he failed to appear for the Hoops’ defeat to Watford on Saturday, Charlton Athletic launched a rival bid of their own. The Addicks’ offer was not to Wanderers’ liking and QPR came back with a second bid on Monday morning which is now being mulled over by the 31-year-old striker, pictured. The mega-rich Championship club then submitted a revised offer – now being considered by the player – which would see Helguson move to London until mid-January. Having found his first-team opportunities restricted since his £1.5million move from Fulham last summer, the striker is looking for a permanent move away from the Reebok. His only Premier League appearance this season came as a substitute against his old club and his single start was in the Carling Cup defeat to Northampton Town. Helguson was linked with loan moves to Norwich, Cardiff and Bristol City before the last transfer window closed. This is Lancashire

Guess that's going to be settled legally - Still no Club Secretary. Does that mean Paladini is in charge of such matters! Just remember: It didn't start with Briatore. There were some departures (quite a few) when Paladini was Chairman. And just on the micro level: Remember the statician Derrek Buxton?

I do try to get an answer (have just asked again in case he has been busy for the last month), but in Pete's case if it doesn't suit him then it is a bit of a lost cause..... Had forgotten that Sheila left about the same time, can't help thinking there is a lot more to this than has been made public.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what he's saying (and I admit that's always a posisbility) Pete seems to be saying re the Helguson passing a medical "All i can say is that i found out today and NOT from the person that everybody thinks !!"'
But clearly back in April, Pete On THAT WATRB thread about the Fan/Sousa meeting responded to the fan saying The Fan: "[Sousa] went on to tell me that the day he became manager the board signed Helguson EVEN THOUGH he failed a medical!"
Pete clarified on that thread in April: "Just for the record Helgusson never failed a medical, played and scored for Iceland 3 days before signing for QPR, nice piece on the official web-site, the day he signed."
No clearly Pete did not just find out today!

And this was Dave McIntyre back in November "...And while Di Carmine has some good attributes, he is not the answer to Rangers’ shortcomings up front. - Heidar Helguson could be if he can get back his match sharpness and stay fit, but doubts about his long-term fitness led to his proposed transfer from Bolton stalling last week. - Talks to try and salvage that move will take place over next couple of days, and Helguson could yet join Rangers before Saturday’s match against his former club Watford." qprreport.blogspot.com/2008/11/briatore-right-di-canio-wrong-about.html

OK, so Pete has hasn't figured out that when (De) Sousa became manager that was the end of November. So if you take the literal meaning of: "[Sousa] went on to tell me that the day he became manager the board signed Helguson EVEN THOUGH he failed a medical!" you can see that (De) Sousa is talking about when we first signed Helguson on loan. That was a protracted deal which at the time was overshadowed by (De) Sousa's appointment. It was during this two week period (last two weeks of November) that Helguson seemed to be coming, failed a medical, went back to Bolton, was going to Charlton, came back to Rangers, refused the deal, accepted the deal, passed a medical and then signed and came off the bench at Palace on November 29th to miss an open goal from 12 yards and immediately destroy our hopes that we had just signed the 'goal scorer' we desperately needed. The club do not help with all the spin confusing the issue and as (De) Sousa was not here to initiate the deal he was left wondering why Helguson was signed when he failed the initial medical. Then he worked under Pallidini for 5 months and all his questions were answered: Barrowdale, Blackstock and being called a 'c**t' probably left him feeling a bit bewildered and betrayed by the board resulting in an honest conversation with a fan being detrimental enough to cause him to stumble back onto the knives already poised and waiting at his back. Paulo, you are best out of it. Hopefully one day you can look back and realise just how lucky you really are.
How you lot can expect Pete to deviate from his position by responding to well thought out and proven with fact counter-argument, does bewilder me a bit. The WATRB moderators continually pushes a certain agenda in a very immature and amateurish fashion that shows it's actual purpose is not one of actual fair debate and anything that is too intelligent for them to answer without revealing their obvious agenda is simply ignored, as that is all people with limited intelligence can do. That and just invent fantasy postings that don't exist in an attempt to smear a board that simply and politely disagrees with their statements with facts and fair questions. What's next, are you expecting the Daily Express to print a welcome letter to all immigrants on their front page under the headline 'Diana - we're moving on'?

I posted it there so only fair to respond here too:
So, trying to remember what I heard at the time.
I think it was along the lines of, racked up for medical, they found "something"...not too sure what I'm no expert but, obviously something that caused concern. And thus he'd failed the medical.
Then and I'm a bit hazy at the specific wordings but, for whatever reason we then gave him a more in-depth medical. A second chance as such to pass it?
It was decided that there was a risk of him breaking down or of him getting niggles but, that might be worth the risk? Then I heard at a later point from a different source that he took a pay drop to sign for us.
So I dont know the ins and outs but I heard the above from some pretty reliable sources at the time. Hence, I didn't want him signing...I saw no point in buying him and then he breaks down a week later.
Obviously all the above is pure speculation but my understanding was that he deffo failed the first medical

And by special request of Pete - Starting a new blog post, just for me - Now why do you think he doesn't want to post on this site? ;D Anyway, anything to help ITK Pete Pete/WATRB Blog
Hopefully QPR-report will copy and Paste this Posted Today at 10:39 AM by qblockpete ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In an interview in Icelandic newspaper he tells the story. To stop all this speculation about a failed medical Was contacted by QPR in Malta where he was with the Icelandic team and offered a loan contarct ending 1.1.2009. And if he played played certain amount of games he would be signed permanently. Arrived at practice on friday. 10 minutes before the practise he was handed a contract where final day of the loan period was 31.1.2009 not 1.1.2009 as had been talked about. HH could not accept 31.1.2009 because if he did that he could not go to another team in the transfer window if QPR would not sign him permanently. People at QPR said they would change the date. HH was told at the practice that he would start against Watford. After practice he got the same contract without date changes so he went back to Bolton. He would not sign for a team which were not keeping their words. www.skysports.com/story/0,195...524761,00.html www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail...503705,00.html THESE CLASSICs FROM QPR_REPORT therangersboys.proboards.com/...y&thread=16641therangersboys.proboards.com/...y&thread=16792therangersboys.proboards.com/...y&thread=16647therangersboys.proboards.com/...y&thread=16653www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/blog.php?b=249[Edit, Since Pete, didn't do the links properly,. I'd have to click on the link of WATRB and get the full link to make these links work. I'll do that later - or someone else can feel free to do it. Unlike Pete, I'm certainly not scared past postings Double Edit: Pete just didn't do the links properly - So until he (or his colleagues) fix the links, I have no idea what they link to!

Yes that really clears things up..... The story on the official site saying he has signed until the end on January is dated on the Thursday Is the Offy becoming the new Fantasy Island? The last sentence of the quote from HH sadly sums up the all new QPR for me

Maybe I'm even dumber than I thought, but I genuinely do not understand half of what Pete says. Pete starts a blog Post QPR-report Has Memory Loss Over Helgusson But he was happy to post this, despite me keep telling him that Helgusson would sign!!! www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/11/24/bolton-striker-heidar-helguson-snubs-qpr-to-sign-for-charlton-115875-20920555/I question: What EXACTLY is the point you're trying to make Pete? That we signed him? Yes I know that You made a big deal of rushing on to THAT poster's Sousa report to refute Sousa's (reported) assertion that Helguson failed a fitness test. (Amazing how you "knew" that so quickly) So what are you trying to say here? As always you're always free to post on my messageboard! Get your view clearly across! Pete's Response: Quit while your ahead. At the time, you kept harping on about us not signing him, plus contract talks falling through. All of sudden, you now want to discuss failed medicals, when he did not have failed medical and no time around the November 20th was it discussed. Keep those pastings coming, for me its another one in file! www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/blog.php?b=250
