And the Jewish Chronicle picks up on The Sun ( rather than just follow QPR REPORT)

Footballer Tal Ben Haim faces antisemitic abuse
By Sandy Rashty, January 11, 2013
Tal Ben Haim (Photo: AP) Footballer Tal Ben Haim has been targeted with a torrent of antisemitic abuse by fans of his club. The Israeli-born defender, who transferred to the Queens Park Rangers last week, was attacked on the club’s official Facebook page. The messages have subsequently been deleted and offenders “blocked” from posting on the site. According to a report in the Sun, one user questioned how Muslim Adel Taarabt, a QPR midfielder, could “live playing alongside a Jew?” A QPR spokesperson said: "We are deleting the posts on Facebook and blocking the people who posted them." Mr Ben Haim, 30, was born in Rishon-le-Zion, and has played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Having focused considerably over the years on anti-Semitism and football, and then having it brought down to what happens at QPR...Have to hope that QPR fans do not engage in any of the chanting/singing re Spurs and that's been a subject of controversy

The QPR blog "thisismyengland" documented some of our fans on twitter joking about making anti-semitic chants at Spurs away last season I remember but I can't seem to find it. That kind of disgusting abuse is not something I associate or have ever witnessed myself at QPR. But stuff like this does reinforce the idea that we should never be complacent about discrimination.

Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) www.jta.org/news/article/2013/01/14/3116741/anti-semitic-messages-target-israeli-soccer-player-in-ukAnti-Semitic messages target Israeli soccer player in U.K. January 14, 2013 (JTA) -- British soccer fans reportedly wrote anti-Semitic messages on the Facebook page of a local British club shortly after it hired an Israeli player. The slurs against Tal Ben Haim came last week, just days after he joined the Queens Park Rangers of the English Premier League, according to a report in The Sun newspaper. The authors of the anti-Semitic slurs used pejoratives. One comment asked how the team’s Moroccan Muslim midfielder could “live playing alongside a Jew.” The messages have since been deleted. A Queens Park Rangers spokesman issued a statement saying:“We are banning all posters who post anti-Semitic comments.” Ben Haim plays for Israel’s national team. He also has played for several clubs in the English premier league including Chelsea, Manchester City and Portsmouth.

They were not posted by "British soccer fans"... Technically the reporter is correct. They are fans of a British 'Soccer' team therefore they can be described as 'British Soccer Fans'. Typical bullshit journalism twisting the meaning of words to confuse in order to portray a sensational view thereby creating a larger story out of a much smaller one. I don't know what annoys me more, the stoking of the racism flames and creating a deliberate confusion in order to portray British QPR fans as anti-semites or the use of the word 'Soccer'. Either way the journalist and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency should be ashamed of themselves.

British - No, they are not, Malaysian, Indonesian and Middle Eastern among others. Soccer - No it is not, it's football. Fans - No they are not, they don't even know where Loftus Road is. I thank you.
