I remember it well. One of the last handful of games I saw prior to going in the R.A.F.

Well, it was a long time ago but all I can remember is that we were rather outplayed. Arsenal were class whilst we were "up and at 'em". I do know that one of the Arsenal goals was scored by Roper and we were 2-0 down when Gordon Quinn scored our only goal. Can't remember the other scorers. Quinn was with us from 1952 to 1956. He played 22 games as an inside forward (one of our less auspicious number 10s though he was inside right for this game) and scored only one competitive goal. He went to Plymouth Argyle when he left us. Sorry but I can't be more helpful than that.

I have subsequently found a report of this game on the Indy Rs site. I hope I am not breaching any sort of protocol here but will give the link which is www.indyrs.co.uk/?p=219 and my apologies if I should not have done this. Seems my own recollection of the events of that day were fairly accurate.

What is interesting is the program says H Brown in goal. In the picture that is more like Stan Gullen. Long time ago but i think i am right,

Definitely Stan Gullan, Ronski. No doubt about it.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I knew the one-armed referee for that match (a staunch QPR supporter) - Alf Bond. Alf was my instructor when I joined the London Society of Association Referees all those years ago. Lovely guy.

Well spotted Ronski Stan Knox Gullan was the goalkeeper. The other change to the side was George Mountford for Ernie Shepherd.
