Betting now suspended on Holloway joining. Most impressive going for a manager in work!
I note Lennie Lawrence has joined Dougie.

Term potential is overused...
But Palace are such a club - who get far bigger gates than QPR did when they do well....

Although to be honest, there are not many in work managers I'd want. And those I'd want, would never come to us (certainly not mid season strugglers)

I imagine frustration at Everton and no better job offer. Certainly QPR today are not an attraction to a very good manager already in a great job

Keith Millen has also joined the club as assistant manager. Holloway, 49, will be in attendance at today’s game against Blackburn but will not be taking charge of team affairs and said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and a fresh start. “It is sad to leave Blackpool as my time there was the best trip I have been on and leave very proud of what was achieved and I would like to wish them all the best. I called Holloway one of our greatest managers in past half century. I think that's fair... Put him behind Stock, Jago, Sexton and Venables...and then between Holloway, Gerry Francis, Warnock and maybe even Don Howe and Jim Smith...

! Guardian Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway compares club with Barcelona • 'Palace have the right colours … very similar to Barcelona' • Holloway watches Crystal Palace defeat Blackburn 2-0 Anna Kessel at Selhurst Park The Observer, Saturday 3 November 2012 16.08 EDT Ian Holloway applauds Crystal Palace fans at half-time of their match against Blackburn Ian Holloway applauds Crystal Palace fans at half-time of their home match against Blackburn after becoming manager. Photograph: Steven Paston/Action Images Ian Holloway, whose famed analogies invoke such unlikely subjects as hamsters' testicles, jack russells, brothels and burglars, arrived at his new club Crystal Palace and immediately set about comparing them with Barcelona. On signing a four-and-a-half-year deal to manage the south London club, currently on an 11-match unbeaten streak, the 49-year-old said: "Palace have got the right colours to do what I believe football is all about: the strip is very similar to Barcelona's, and they represent what I'm trying to get to: possession, passing, attacking, defending off your attacking, fresh young footballers and creating your own style. "I've never been so excited in all my life," said Holloway, who watched from the stands as his new team beat Blackburn 2-0, stepping on to the pitch at half-time to address the fans. "They've sold me their dream for the club," he said of the owners, as he talked about facilities, a burgeoning youth team that has produced the exquisitely talented winger Wilfried Zaha and others, and the club's ambitious outlook. A dynamic display from the home side had the former Blackpool manager in raptures. "I don't know about you but how lucky are we to see a team like this?" he marvelled. "Absolutely fantastic. When do you get a chance to lead a club with an opportunity like this? Absolutely outstanding. People may ask me why [did I sign]? Well they've given me four and a half years, they've sold me your dream for the club." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/03/crystal-palace-ian-holloway-barcelona
