Playmate for Dyer?
Might just be to help him out while he looks for a club.
Or maybe, QPR are worried they've lowered the squad's average age by signing Hoilett and they want to bring it back up!

Was the Hargreaves training with QPR story come out somewhere and then the club responded with their tweets? (That's the norm). Or did the club initiate this news?

QPR Official Site
HARGREAVES TRAINING WITH R'S Posted on: Sat 28 Jul 2012
Former Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves is training with the QPR First Team.
The 31 year-old, who has 42 England caps, joined the R's squad for his first session today.
QPR Manager Mark Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "Owen is training with the group. There is no obligation for either party.
"He is keen to retain his fitness and we are more than happy to help him by allowing him to train with us and use our facility at Harlington."
Hargreaves is a free agent following his release from City at the end of last season.

Obviously as a player, more than good enough. But it's fitness

I thought he was much older than 31. Seems to have been around for a lot longer.

Was one of the best dm in the country if not world, if he could get his match fitness back and stay injury free, we would have a very good player there indeed.

If he's fit now, give him a six months contract to play alongside Diakite while Faurlin is recovering.

If the current premier league champions thought he was worth looking at i can't see any problem in us doing the same. If he does well give him a short term pay as you play gotta be worth a look

Have to assume the club are looking at him as a player. As would hate to think we're just allowing him to use our facilities to get fit for someone else.

He used to be absolutely world class, however, where has he been? Just as injured as Dyer?

I like Hargreaves, and would love to see him fully fit and playing for the R's. I guess the "fully fit" is the problem part though, cos he definitely has ability. I have always felt a bit sorry for him, as he never fully realized his potential.

TEAMTALK from May
Hargreaves to make City exit
Tuesday 22nd May 2012 16:06
Hargreaves: Contract won't be renewed by City
Midfielder Owen Hargreaves will leave Manchester City on the expiry of his contract this summer, the Premier League club have confirmed.
The former England international, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, joined Roberto Mancini's side last August after leaving city rivals United.
However, he played just four times - but only once in the Premier League with a 13-minute appearance in October - and scored a solitary goal in a Carling Cup victory over Birmingham.
The 31-year-old's last outing came in the 3-2 FA Cup third-round defeat to United on January 8 when he played the final eight minutes.
Hargreaves spent most of last summer trying to convince prospective clubs he was fully fit after having operations on both knees in 2008 and 2009 during his injury-hit spell at Manchester United, and he even resorted to posting videos on YouTube showing him training.
Mancini offered the former Bayern Munich star a chance after the player resisted interest from West Brom, but he was not included in the club's Champions League squad and started only two games, both in the Carling Cup, in his four appearances.
That quartet of games was as many as he had managed in the previous three seasons, however.

8 games in the last four years? Hmm, even worse than I thought. Can't see how we could afford to have him or Dyer in the 25-man squad.

Offer him 2k per game he plays. That's about all he is worth. Would surpass Matt Rose as our best ever sick note.

I suspect that there is no harm in having him at training...for all his injuries he has a reputation as a highly motivated, hard working, high character guy....he may push/inspire some players, even if he doesn't make the squad and if he can get fitness back we all agree he'd be an excellent addition. Dyer/Hargreaves are classic low risk high reward players i.e no expectation but lots of talent

Agreed, but the risk would be having them in the 25-man squad at the expense of other players.

I agree obk but if you don't sign Ki or have a player who gets injured in preseason its not a bad idea to have a "fit" Dyer/Hargreaves to take a spot in your 25

I would love a fit Hargreaves playing for QPR. Let's just try Hughes and his team on this. As someone said a pay as you play contract until Faurlin is fit again perhaps?
