By Alan Nixon 1 Comment 16 Jul 2012 22:30 Big Mac attack: QPR's Mackie in talks over £3.5m move to Blackburn
Championship side hope the Scotland forward will agree to return to the ground where he suffered horror leg break 18 months ago
Heading out? Mackie's camp are in discussions with Blackburn PA Blackburn boss Steve Kean is making an ambitious £3.5million bid to sign Queens Park Rangers' Scotland forward Jamie Mackie.
Kean has approached his Hoops counterpart Mark Hughes with an offer for Mackie and is now in discussions with the player's camp about a move to the Championship promotion hopefuls.
Mackie has just signed a contract extension after playing a major part in Rangers' successful survival battle last season, but may be squeezed out of the side in the coming campaign.
Striker Andy Johnson, who played for Hughes at Fulham has already signed for QPR on a Bosman and Rangers have also been linked with Craig Bellamy, the Liverpool, Wales and Great Britain striker who Hughes has previously signed for Manchester City and, ironically, Blackburn.
However, the pacy forward will have personal demons to overcome if he does join Rovers.
He broke his leg in an FA Cup tie between QPR and Blackburn at Ewood Park in January 2011 and spent almost nine months on the sidelines.
Field of screams: Mackie grimaces in pain after breaking his leg at Blackburn Getty
Kean, who has a vacancy in attack with Junior Hoilett set to leave, and will have cash to buy Mackie from owners Venky's after appealing for an injection of cash.
If Mackie says yes to the move, it may even open the door for a possible exchange deal involving Hoilett, as QPR are among the clubs he has spoken to.
The young Canadian still prefers to go to Germany, where he's been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach, but Rangers may be able to get back in the race if Mackie goes the other way.

They signed Hellguson long term and a dicy one imo. Im furious that they havent locked up Jamie.
His spirit verve determination, kept us up. Lock him in til we win Euro. Someone who wants to score goals by hook or crook. First since Furs. No temperament issues, enjoys his work, and the irony is that Colin should never have played him in that lg cup venue. Cisse a fab goal scorer, but not the temperament ,which could blow anytime. Not saying it wiil, not saying any comparisons but.........

You know, we are allowed to refuse any bids that come in for him guys! He's just signed a new contract, I can hardly see him going to Blackburn whether they've made a bid or not! I don't think TF's ambition includes selling players who kept us up somehow.

They have locked up Mackie long-term. He just signed a new deal.
If he goes its because he doesn't see a future considering that ahead of him in line as forward are Cisse, Zamora, and Johnson (as well as Helguson, DJ, Boothroyd, and Hulse). And ahead of him in midfield is Adel, Diakite, Faurlin, Park, Barton, (as well as Derry, SWP, Ephraim). Then there are the rumours of more to come. Its getting crowded and it is possible that Mackie may feel crowded out and wanna try his hand elsewhere.

News I didnt know Dylan and thanks mate. Stil, Ill tell you, they wont be able to keep him out. there are so many injuries cards knocks unanticipated things, that inmyou can never have too many talented players. He loves QPR and being in prem to Blackburn who could be an also ran in that league.
I once asked Roy Wegerle how he liked playing for Blackburn. He said "Too cold up there"

Dylan's right.
As I've stated several times on this board, Mackie is very unlikely to be a starter next season now. He may feel that he'd rather play regular first team football in the Championship which will help further his budding international career than languish on the bench and watch his Scotland caps dry up.
Who knows for sure at the moment, but you have to consider it a strong possibility rather than just dismiss the notion out of hand simply because you don't like the thought of it.

If it's what Jamie wants then that's fine. He is the first person to be considered but I will be gutted if he goes. He has more passion in him than any other half dozen players put together.

Hoilett is definitely a better footballer then Mackie and to be honest would stand more chance of making final 11 next season. I admire Mackie for his effort and chipping in with goals but we are really upping the anti with the quality of player we are looking to bring in and Hoilett is better quality.

If it was to West Ham or Southampton as was last week rumor, would Make more sense, be more plausible because he said he wants to play in the Premiership; not back in the Championship

Just his never give up attitude should keep him here. We need that spiritin the team. Mackie can remind the others of how privileged they are to be in this position of playing professional football.

I concur with Lone's appraisal of the man. The guy is a legend. Wouldn't let him go for twice the price, just for his attitude alone. Christ when was the last time we had a player that played for us with so much passion. He plays like anyone of us would do if we had half the chance to play for QPR.

Assuming Jamie can read and he watched match of the day a few times last season ,theres no way he'd go to Blackburn.Crap team, crap manager and crap owners.More chance of being relegated than bouncing straight back up. He'll stay and fight for his spot I recon.

Surely and truly, it’s transfer silly season.
The Mirror is reporting that Blackburn are hopeful of signing QPR’s auxiliary forward Jamie Mackie for a reported £3.5m.
First things first, a player would have to be out of his mind to join Blackburn Rovers at the moment. If you’re somebody like Danny Murphy, and you feel that you’re no longer up to playing at Premier League pace, then fine – because whether Blackburn bounce back or not is really an irrelevance. For someone like Mackie though, a decision like this represents a serious risk with his career.
Blackburn fans deserve all the sympathy in the world, because what Venky’s have done to their club is unforgivable – but as a result, players should be very wary of going to Ewood Park.
Obviously, all of this is really irrelevant if QPR don’t want to let Mackie leave Loftus Road – which they shouldn’t. Regardless of who comes into the club before the start of the season, the Scot is still a useful member of the first-team, and of Premier League quality.
There are too many question marks over this; not the Mirror’s finest hour.
