Had a couple of tweets with Andy Impey last night and whilst tweeting congratulated him on achieving three consecutive player of the season awards , some achievement!
Not sure if that will ever be beaten ?
Andy Impey won QPR Player of the Year in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He is the only player to win the award 3 times.
I also mentioned that i was sure when i once checked he had played more games over that four season Premier League period and yes it was Andy that appeared in 142 games over those 4 years , quite remarkable!
Well done Mr Impey

Andy Impey signed for QPR in 1990 at The age of 18, after having been there on trial, and impressed the manager at the time Don Howe. His first season spent with the club he never made any appearances, but he worked hard in training but he was finding it hard to adapt. He had asked to put himself out on loan, but a change in managers from Don Howe to Gerry Francis seemed to change that decision.
Gerry Francis was keen to keep hold of the Hammersmith born youngster. He eventually went on to make his debut in Oct 1991 against Norwich, and it wasnt long before we was seeing impresive performances from a player that could play at both full back or on the wing. He was everpresent in a QPR side that consisted the likes of Les Ferdinand, Andy Sinton and Ray Wilkins and they finshed 5th place in the inaugrual Premier League season.
The following season were just as successful for Impey. Now an established first team player, and a fans favourite his performances on the field were being rewarded. He was voted QPR's 'Player Of The Year' for 3 years in a row in 93, 94 and 95, becoming the first player ever to gain that feat. Despite Impey and Co's best efforts, QPR were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 95/96 season.
Impey remained at QPR for the 96/97 season and he went on to score some wonder goals that year. The pick of the bunch being a right foot volley from the edge of the area, in a 4-4 draw with Port Vale that QPR were losing in 4-0 at half time.
With QPR failing to gain promotion back to the Premier League, the club was starting to lose its best players, Impey being one of them. He left QPR in 97 signing for West Ham for £1,400,000.
Impey made 188 appearances for QPR and scored 13 goals for the club. He also holds the record for the QPR player with the most Premier League appearances. To this day Impey is still a fans favourite, and can still be seen attending QPR games on occassion.
