Probably!
"...But fans of Premier League bad boy Joey Barton could be disappointed as Hughes has decided against having him on the tour.
“He’s currently serving a 12-match suspension and it makes no sense to bring him. He’s unlikely to be in the travelling squad,” said Hughes.

Tony Fernandes realises dream of bringing QPR to Malaysia Posted on June 23, 2012 0 Comments
By SHAMSHUL FITRI
SEPANG: It’s a dream come true for Queens Park Rangers (QPR) owner Tan Sri Tony Fernandes to have the English Premier League team playing in Malaysia.
In fact, he never imagined it would be realised so soon after taking over ownership of the London club just about a year ago.
“It’s something special to be able to bring a club directly involved with a Malaysian to the country. I never thought it would be this soon,” he said in a video conference yesterday.
QPR will play a Sabah selection in Kota Kinabalu on July 17 followed by a match against Kelantan on July 20 at the Shah Alam Stadium

The London side will then face Indonesia’s Persebaya Surabaya in Surabaya on July 23.
Tony and club manager Mark Hughes are currently in South Korea to seal sponsorship deals before the new EPL season starts on Aug 18.
Hughes said he was excited about the club’s Asia Tour which is a part of the build-up for next season was exciting.
But fans of Premier League bad boy Joey Barton could be disappointed as Hughes has decided against having him on the tour.
“He’s currently serving a 12-match suspension and it makes no sense to bring him. He’s unlikely to be in the travelling squad,” said Hughes.
QPR chief executive officer Philip Beard said the Asia Tour was an important part of the team’s preparations for next season.
“It won’t be just a PR trip for us. The matches that we play will help in our tune-up.
“We will bring the first team for the tour,” said Beard, suggesting that the likes of new signing, England No. 2 goalkeeper Robert Green, and former Fulham striker Andrew Johnson will make the trip.
Tickets for matches are priced from RM30 to RM200 and can be bought online from www.redtix.airasia.com. Details for the Surabaya match will be announced soon.

"..I also find it insulting that qpr-reports site are asking so many questions. They seem to want to know everything that goes on at the club..." |

It doesn't make any sense to take him on the preseason to play, but it makes sense to take him in terms of team-bonding. This is quite the slap in the face, if you ask me.
Unless this is a subtle hint that he won't be around at the beginning of the season. Or that MH has no intention of playing him again.

Everything I've read states that Hughes doesn't want him, Fraser.
Sounds like most of the players don't either, so the bonding will work fine without him around.

Fras, you're right Barton doesn't deserve to play in the preseason matches, but I can not understand your logic to bring him along to help bond the team. I am not sure the rest of the players are that supportive and happy after he tried to implicate his team mates in trying to get a City player sent off during his sending off. His words.
I completely agree with the decision to omit Barton from the pre-season tour.

This is as sure a sign as any that Barton won't be sticking around. Whether we tear up his contract or leave him out of the 25 man squad and sell him in January I highly doubt Barton will be a QPR player this time next year.

It's a shame for me that he acted so disgracefully...and I'm not sure what to make of various dressing room rumours, but I know that after a successful upcoming season, he won't be missed - especially after some quality without the criminal record walks through the door.
I'm excited about watching Faurlin get a full season, hopefully alongside Diakite but we'll just have to wait and see.
Does anyone have any more news on Samba? Would like to hear something from the club, either a yay or nay.

Sure I read somewhere on here, possibly the daddy thread, that they are still working on the Diakite deal.
1st July would seem about right to me

I just thought that it might be a little unsettling having your captain (until we hear otherwise) missing. You know, like having a 900-lb gorilla in the room that no one is talking about.
Having said that, if he is not Mr. Popular with his team-mates then it might be best to leave him at home.
At least he did a respectful tweet re: Alan McDonald today.

By the time we go on the tour Barton will have been stripped of the captaincy.

Don't need to "strip" it, he can't play for us so cannot be captain.
We do not need another captaincy farce either, club captain but don't play bollox, we've done that one recently, one size!

I try not to comment on JB nowadays, but has anybody considered that this is a PR tour, and can he be trusted to do the right thing? The last thing we need on this world brand trip is him kicking off somewhere big style and bringing the club (and its fans) into disrepute,i am trying to see the fair side Fraser but imagine if you were you were his manager. What makes a mockery out of us all is that he is the club skipper........................you really could not make it up.
Cheers,
Jay

Actually, Jay, that's a very good point. I hadn't really thought through the PR side of things. The last thing we need is another QPR v Olympic Chinese football team style brawl on a PR trip.

I'm not sure I'm all for these round the world tours personally...I know that it's a PR gimmick, and as a Club we definitely need to be marketing our brand - we need a business model after all - but it must suck for the players, going to these scruffy, boiling hot places to play teams the equivalent of the Blue Square Premiership. Still, I suppose it's one way to get them working hard when they've gotta battle the heat as well.
I just hope we have some nice local preseason friendlies afterwards! The likes of Aldershot and Wycombe like we did a couple of years back. Those places had one or two decent burger vans!
