QPR line up £50k-a-week deal for Green with Kenny set to join Leeds By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER PUBLISHED: 06:44 EST, 19 May 2012 | UPDATED: 06:44 EST, 19 May 2012 Comments (1) Share
QPR hope to start their summer rebuilding process by signing West Ham and England goalkeeper Robert Green. The former Norwich player, 32, is out of contract in July and looks likely to leave Upton Park regardless of the result of their Championship play-off final against Blackpool on Saturday.
On his way? Green is out of contract in the summer According to the Daily Mirror, Green will be offered £50,000 per week to join the Loftus Road club as they look to kick on following their last-day escape from relegation. Manager Mark Hughes plans a major overhaul of his squad this summer with last season's No 1 Paddy Kenny set to rejoin former manager Neil Warnock at Leeds. Green is in England's squad for the European Championships.

I think you have to look at the fact he stayed last season in the championship when he could have moved on. To be fair west ham did manage to keep hold of a lot of the better players after relegation. Personaly i rekon he'll stay meaning we'll have to look elsewhere i'd go for al habsi best keeper i saw at loftus rd last season although i think almunia's out of contract. And lets not forget only 18 months ago he was arsenals 1st choice and was being linked with switching nations and playing international football for england because the likes of green had not impressed
Tony Fernandes: “Many people do not realise the power of sport to market a brand” “You can spend £40 million on advertising and have nothing like the same effect." “It can’t be about one benefactor. I might be hit by a bus".
One thing that would worry me about Green is when West Ham were relegated nobody from the premiership tried to buy him
I think there were several enquiries actually, if I recall.
West Brom looked before they got Foster on loan, I think.
Green is a better keeper than Kenny. End of. Whether he stays at WHUFC is another issue now though, although them going for Robinson at Blackburn makes sense.
There is no way we'll get Al-Habsi I'm afraid, no until Wigan go down-which could happen next season if Martinez leaves for Liverpool.

Ben Foster is a strange one Why have Birmingham not sold him for good money rather than just loaning him out all season

Would rather we went for a goalkeeper proven at premiership level. Green, like Kenny, is and excellent Championship goalkeeper but not up to it at the top level IMO.
I don't think we'll get one from current prem teams and I don't think the ones who went down are good enough either so I'm thinking Hughes will have to look abroad.
All that said, it wouldn't surprise me if Green does end up at LR in which case I'd love to be proved wrong.

Probably to save on his salary but keep him if they came back up...I'd expect WBA to have first dibs but he'd be my choice of the English keepers followed by Robinson and only then Green.
Rory will explain why it won't happen but I'd like one of the many great German keepers e.g. Neuer, Adler or Weidenfeller

My real number one is Ben Foster, and my number two Steve Ellana, very promising goal keeper playing for french side Brest. Either of them would be a really massive signing. BUT if we can't get them, Green is an improvement, because Kenny was not good enough this season. He had some great games, but between december and march, you got the feeling he couldn't make a single save, he had an horrific run.
I still wonder if Craig Gordon on a freebie and low wage could be a good signing. Maybe as back-up for Green, or Robinson, or anyone.

I'm sure you would Eus, unfortunately so do most of Europe
Alder has just signed a five year deal with Hamburg anyway.
With Foster I think he didn't want to play in the Championship so Brum loaned him to WBA hoping by the time he returns they would be a Premier League side.

David Gold confident Robert Green will stay after promotion West Ham's joint-chairman David Gold believes goalkeeper Robert Green will stay at Upton Park after the club gained promotion to the Premier League.
The England international performed well in West Ham's 2-1 play-off final victory over Blackpool at Wembley.
The 32-year-old's contract expires this summer, but Gold wants to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
"One of the first negotiations that will take place will be with Robert Green," he told BBC Sportsday.
"He is a world-class goalkeeper and his salary would be commensurate with that, but now that we are in the Premier League we can sit down with him.
"I am confident that we can keep Robert."
Despite spending a season in the Championship, Green received a Euro 2012 call-up from England manager Roy Hodgson.
He will travel to Poland and Ukraine as Hodgson's number two keeper, behind Manchester City's Joe Hart.
Gold said promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt was incredibly important.
"There was no way we could keep Robert in the Championship in the second year after relegation by paying him his value," he said.
Gold, who took control of West Ham in January 2010 with business partner David Sullivan, says the club will reassess the squad over the summer after securing top-flight football, with new arrivals likely.
He said: "Some negotiations will start straight away and some will start in a few weeks.
"Until all those things have been sorted out you're not quite sure what you will be doing, but you know you have to strengthen your squad to give you the best possible chance of staying in the division.
"Once we've done all our negotiations with the players you want to keep, Sam (Allardyce) will come to us and tell us the areas we are weak in and need to strengthen, and this is what it's going to cost us.
"A lot of contracts will be with players that go back onto Premier League wages now we have gone up."

Well with the exception of Phil Parkes (and Mkosko) West Ham have some less-than-great goalies over the years, going back in my memory, to Bobby Ferguson

Wow, you people are really harsh on Green. I think he is a really good keeper and a definite improvement over Kenny.
But for someone else you probably haven't heard about, Johan Wiland, swedish keeper playing for FC Köpenhamn (Copenhagen) is an excellent keeper that would probably be pretty cheap too, at least talking english football transfer sums...

I rekon we'd be better of going for the Rangers keeper or even the fulham lad stockdale he's looked good whenever i've seen him. I'd also take the Rangers captain davis he's quality
