Can't help but think all the major signings are now done and Hughes is looking just to find another Kompany/Dembele type signing. A relatively unknown who isn't expected to walk into the first XI but will be developed over the course of a season. Which is why all the recent reports that eusebio has found make sense to me. Get the major signings done and done before others get in there and then scout and spend time trying to find that gem that nobody else has spotted i.e. Faurlin.

Katidis is a great young player, would be a good signing IMO. Can only see young players coming in now.

Apart from Ki & if we can get the right central defender I hope that we have made all our signings apart from young improving players.

We are being continuously linked with players that are no improvement on what we have & most of these would cost an inflated fortune.

IMO Richardson & Jenas are not good enough to have a regular role on the subs bench & this applies to most other names that are mentioned that play in the Premier. I also can't think of any defender in the Premier who may be available that we wouldn't be quoted twice as much as they are worth, & their are few outside the top clubs that would greatly improve us.

I don't know much/anything about Katidis or other european players being linked but if they are young & good enough I will trust our management on these.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway wants to bring DJ Campbell back from QPR in a £1m deal.
Holloway has agreed a fee with Rangers but is yet to sort out personal terms.
Campbell will need to take a pay cut to fit in with Blackpool's wages structure. Watford, Blackburn and Wigan have also shown interest in Campbell.

Heading back to the seaside? Blackpool want to re-sign DJ Campbell
Wigan are also keen on Blackpool's Matt Phillips as they prepare to replace Chelsea-bound Victor Moses.

Music to our ears: Blackpool poised to re-sign DJ Campbell

Championship side have already agreed a fee with QPR to buy their former striker back - but can they strike a deal on wages?

Pier pressure: Blackpool need to cough up big wages to bring Campbell 'home'
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is making a £1million bid to bring DJ Campbell back to the club from QPR.

Striker Campbell, a Seasiders hero after helping them win promotion to the Premier League two years ago, is willing to return and a fee has been agreed but his personal terms could derail the deal.

Campbell signed for a huge salary when he made the switch to Loftus Road last summer and will want similar wages at Blackpool.

Holloway is desperate to have the much-travelled 30-year-old back, but the move will hinge on what his bosses are prepared to offer as a salary.

We don't know what is the true current form of DJ. His story is puzzling. At first, he didn't get enough games under NW, although he looked more fresh and sharp than Bothroyd... Then, the injuries... And then - who knows... he was just forgotten...

If you're telling me that Johnson is better than DJ - I'm telling you: We'll see...

Meanwhile, Ferguson is planning to use Carrick as a CB.

Hmmm well DJ scored more goals for Blackpool in the Prem two seasons ago than AJ has in the last 4 years :-/

Campbell will have to drop his wage demands, Blackpool cannot and will not match what we pay him.

Johnson is a superior player, of that there is no doubt.

They won't. Because his form is a mysterious one. Ups and downs.

A player not fitting into squad x/falling out of consideration radar is hardly any news. That can damage player's form, mood, confidence, image...

But he's a good player, a player we were raving about same time last year.

Mbia had always been a central-midfielder, but when he arrived at Marseille, he was fielded as centre-back, but he can play as right-back as well. Very good player!

Tommy Smith supposedly wants to stay and fight for his place...

http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-....PqH3LCk.twitter

QPR outcast willing to fight for future

By Tim Street/Fulham Chronicle

TOMMY Smith will dig his heels in and fight for his place at QPR – despite being forced to play with the reserves.

The winger missed the R's tour of Asia earlier this summer, and was not on the plane when the first team flew out to Germany last week either.

Instead, the former Watford and Pompey man has been forced to train with the reserves and played in a team of youngsters and trialists, along with Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell, who beat Hampton & Richmond Borough 4-0 on Saturday.

Smith and the other fringe players have been linked with a move away from Loftus Road as boss Mark Hughes looks to trim his squad.

But the 32-year-old, who still has a year to run on his contract at Loftus Road, insists he is going nowhere.

He told the Chronicle: “I'm a London lad and my family is settled here, so I'm not looking to go anywhere else. I want to stay and fight for my place until the gaffer says otherwise.

“He's not said anything about my future yet, but I've got a year left to run on my contract, so I'm just working hard to get myself fit and hopefully be a part of his plans.

“Of course it was disappointing to miss the tours, but I think it's just a situation with the amount of new players who have come in and the amount the gaffer can take away with him.

“I understand he needs to build his squad and make it better, so for me, at this stage of the season, it's just about getting a run-out and working on the fitness.”

Too late for Tommy Smith to add this extra yard of speed to his play, I´m afraid. If he was a bit quicker, what a player he would have been..
But stillof all players who seem to be on their way out he is the one I would keep. I love his tactical awareness especially. He is capable of scoring the odd crucial goal as well. Anyway, and god bless us all, I´m not the one to decide anyone´s future at the club. [image] [image] [image]

Perhaps, but Smith is not a poor player. Perhaps a little slow, but a good player nonetheless.

I think we all had the same feelings about DJ last year.

I hope we won't sign any more strikers and AJ will get his minutes :)
