Fernandes - not finished spending.

Fernandes to keep spending Maybe two or three signings are left, claims QPR chairman Last Updated: July 13, 2012 3:13pm
......
Tony Fernandes: QPR owner is happy with summer spending but isn't finished yet
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is delighted with the club's work in the transfer market and claims there is more to come.
The Hoops survived relegation from the Premier League after a dramatic final day at Manchester City and have since recruited six players in the hope of ensuring a smoother time of it next spring.
Manchester United's Park Ji-sung has become the latest addition to Mark Hughes' squad, while Adel Taarabt also signed a new long-term contract earlier this week.
Fernandes only took the reins at QPR just before the start of last season so is making the most of a full summer transfer window to bring in players.
"This time last year I had one week to do it all. Now I've had the best part of two months and I think a lot of great work was done."
Tony Fernandes Quotes of the week "It is ironic, this time last year I had one week to do it all," said Fernandes.
"Now I've had the best part of two months and I think a lot of great work was done.
"We have never said this before but the moment the Man City game was over, we started working.
"There was one night of celebration and then the guys started working on the squad. That is why we've hit the ground running, been able to make six signings and renew Adel.
Time to gel "It's good as it gives Mark a lot of time to gel the squad as obviously there are a lot of new faces that haven't played with each other.
"It is not going to be perfect to start off the season but we seem to be doing the right things there.
"Maybe two or three more signings are left and then we're done - and, I think, done for a while actually because we would then have a good nucleus for a long time.
"The work then has to start on the academy and bringing through kids, who started at QPR at 11 and go all the way up.
"That has been a poor end of QPR as we haven't had many players progress from the academy to the club itself."
Quietly Although developing youth remains a priority, Fernandes believes the acquisition of senior players such as Park, Ryan Nelsen and Andrew Johnson was essential and will help everyone progress.
"Maybe two or three more signings are left and then we're done - and, I think, done for a while actually because we would then have a good nucleus for a long time."
Tony Fernandes Quotes of the week "I think we have done it quietly without anyone really realising it," he added.
"We've picked up a really good level of young players and good level of experience, which I think we lacked last season and Mark highlighted.
"Mark showed me graphs of how many games our players had in the Premier League and it really wasn't a lot.
"It is the toughest league in the world and I think we have a good balance.
"Phil [Beard, chief executive] and me were SMSing each other while brushing our teeth this morning talking about the squad and I think we both have big smiles on our face.
"We have got a bit of work to do still, but it is looking positive."

I would rather have Bellamy on the bench than DJ or Jay. A proper impact player in the last 20min, he can make a difference.

Just remembered about Mike Rigg, I doubt very much he will be on the Asia tour and we know he can make signings for the club as he was the one pictured with Diakite when he signed his contract.

He's had talks with all three of us so no-one apart from Hoilett and his agent knows who the favourites are. It's pure guesswork on their part. He will decided next week.

So hopefully this means we go in two footed for Jarvis? He'll cost more in transfer fee than Hoilett but that will keep his wages down.
Besides, he was always my preference as he works a lot harder than Hoilett does defensively. That would make him a better partner on the left for either Fabio or Traore

QPR & Reading on alert as Defoe heads for Tottenham exit Spurs want £8m for the 29-year-old striker, who does not fit in to Andre Villas-Boas' plans and is looking for a transfer as he seeks regular football

Jermain Defoe is available for transfer and is looking for a new club despite being Tottenham’s only recognised striker. DON'T MISS V. D. Vaart will 'probably' stay at SpursReal close to €44.4m deal for Modric Vertonghen: I had to beg for Spurs move
New Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas does not believe the 29-year-old fits in to his preferred system and is planning a complete overhaul of his forward options in the summer transfer window.
QPR and Reading are among the clubs to have expressed an interest in Defoe, who is keen for regular first-team football after growing frustrated at being forced to play second fiddle to Emmanuel Adebayor last season.
Tottenham value the England international at £8 million (€10m) and plan to reinvest the money as they seek to sign three new strikers before the start of the new campaign.
Spurs are yet to receive a formal approach for Defoe but are aware of interest from Premier League clubs and are ready to open negotiations, with QPR boss Mark Hughes particularly keen on adding firepower to his squad.
Defoe is the only senior striker on Spurs’ books after Louis Saha was released and Emmanuel Adebayor returned to Manchester City following his loan spell at White Hart Lane last season.
Adebayor, who scored 17 Premier League goals last term, is set to move to Spurs permanently in a £5m (€6.4m) deal to become the main central forward for the coming season - but the Londoners want further additions to bolster their options in attack.
Villas-Boas is also looking for two young, adaptable forwards to provide competition for Adebayor and Spurs have been linked with the likes of Brazilian Leandro Damiao, France international Loic Remy and Atletico Madrid's Adrian.
It leaves Defoe facing an uncertain future. The former Portsmouth striker has made little secret of his desire to start on a weekly basis and has admitted that he has considered leaving the club in the last two transfer windows.
Defoe scored 11 league goals last season in 25 appearances, 14 of which were made as a substitute. Villas-Boas, like his predecessor Harry Redknapp, is believed to feel Defoe can be a useful squad player but does not see him as the club’s first or even second choice striker.
The England striker has spent seven years at Spurs during two spells at the club in which he has scored a total of 118 goals in all competitions.

Reading are front runners for Defoe and I think he will go there.
Not fussed if we don't get Hoilett as we have have nuff quality in midfield now. What we do need is another top drawer centre back, especially if, as some papers are reporting today, the FA slap both Terry and Anton with bans for bringing the game into disrepute.
Glad Fernandes has said that once this lot of signings is done that will be it for a while as I was worried that we'd be equally as busy in January's window. We need to have a settled squad now with as little upheaval as possible once the season starts.
Just hope no major players get hurt on tour now.

nomar have you ever painted 1 room in your house and had the wife say well it just makes all the others look bad...I think that is the issue with our squad, every time we upgrade one part of the team it just makes us look light somewhere else so you just keep spending. We clearly need another big time CB and Samba would do the trick but I just wonder if come January we won't all be saying if only we could upgrade X

The Times are saying we are still favourites to sign Hoilett. Our offer is the best out of the three he's weighing up.
Also just watched Ki Sung Yeung play in an olympic warm up match against NZ and he thoroughly impressed me!! Very calm and controlled on the ball, great passing. Made an important block in the penalty area which otherwise would have ended up in a goal and got an assist from a 50 yard through ball
