Both West Ham and Southampton can f*ck right off. He's just signed a new contract and won't be going anywhere

Yorkshire Post

Kenny’s move to Leeds faces delay

Published on Thursday 5 July 2012 08:09

PADDY KENNY’S move to Leeds United will not be finalised until next week, the Yorkshire Post understands.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper is United manager Neil Warnock’s No 1 transfer target of the summer and talks have been taking place with QPR over a possible transfer for several weeks.

Agreement is now believed to have been reached between the Londoners and Leeds over a fee, which is expected to be around £500,000.

Any hopes, however, of forcing through a deal this week have been dashed by a combination of Kenny going away for a planned short break and United chief executive Shaun Harvey being occupied by other club matters.

Talks are not expected to resume until the middle of next week but Kenny remains keen on a fourth spell under Warnock after earlier being together at Bury, Sheffield United and QPR.

Providing agreement can be reached, the arrival of the Halifax-born goalkeeper would pave the way for Andy Lonergan to leave Elland Road with Bolton Wanderers leading the chase for the former Preston North End man.

Newly-relegated Wanderers are understood to have made their interest known to Leeds, who paid around £200,000 for a player who made 38 appearances during his first season at Elland Road.

Lonergan is likely to be joined in leaving Leeds by Adam Clayton, who as this newspaper revealed yesterday is wanted by Huddersfield Town.

Talks have taken place over the midfielder’s possible switch across West Yorkshire with Leeds making it clear they want in the region of £500,000 for the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, the Football Association have started their own assessment of the unseemly scenes that marred the end of United’s derby win over Doncaster Rovers at Elland Road in February.

Players from both teams clashed at the final whistle and police had to step in to separate the warring factions in the tunnel.

Officers then spoke to the Leeds and Rovers players in their respective dressing rooms before conducting further discussions in the days and weeks that followed.

After the investigation was completed, the matter was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service to make a decision as to whether to proceed or not.

That ruling came on Tuesday when the CPS announced that no further action was planned, meaning the FA were finally able to step in.

An FA spokesman last night told the Yorkshire Post: “Now the CPS have made their decision, we can start to look into the matter. We will liaise with the police to establish the evidence they have collected.

“We had to leave it to the police, it was only right they concluded their own investigation.

“Ours is not an investigation as such at this stage, we are looking into the matter.”

The FA are also at pains to stress that no timescale has been set but, considering the severity of the fracas, it would be a major surprise if the two clubs did not face at least a charge apiece over failing to control their players.

Last term, Bradford City and Crawley Town were both fined over an on-field clash at the end of the two clubs’ meeting at Valley Parade that led to five players being red carded.

Or DJ Campbell to Leeds?

Paul Warburton

Leeds United eye move for QPR striker

LEEDS United are lining up a move for QPR striker DJ Campbell.

Backup and Secure information
The Hammersmith-born hitman is way down the pecking order at Loftus Road following the arrival of Andy Johnson.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock bought him for Rangers in a £1.25m deal only last summer, but he has struggled with injuries limiting him to just two Premier League starts for his boyhood club.

Campbell has just 12 months remaining on his contract in W12, with Warnock keen to bring the 30-year-old to Elland Road.

Warnock’s fly in the ointment is the hold-up over a protracted takeover bid at the Yorkshire club that might also free up funds for £500,000 keeper Paddy Kenny, who also wants away from the R's.

Standard

QPR chasing Spurs duo Jermain Defoe and William Gallas

Queens Park Rangers hope to send out a real signal of intent by signing William Gallas and Jermain Defoe from Tottenham this summer.

Rangers, having only just avoided relegation last season, are determined to make an impact this time and believe they can convince their London rivals to sell the duo to them.

Both players face uncertain futures at White Hart Lane following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas as manager there this week.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Gallas has already been linked with West Ham even though he still has one year left on his contract.

Spurs want to lower the average age of the squad and are prepared to let the 34‑year-old go after he made just 15 starts in the Premier League last season due to a variety of injuries.

Rangers manager Mark Hughes, who has already signed goalkeeper Robert Green on a free transfer from West Ham and Manchester United full‑back Fabio on loan, is keen to further strengthen his defence by adding the experience of Gallas as well.

The former France international would be happy to remain in the capital, where he has lived since joining Chelsea from Marseille in 2001.

Hughes also wants to improve his attacking options after the club struggled on their return to the Premier League last season and is monitoring Defoe’s situation.

Defoe grew increasingly frustrated over a lack of first-team football under Harry Redknapp last term and admitted he was considering leaving the club.

There was further frustration for the striker last month as he played only 13 minutes of England’s Euro 2012 campaign, coming on as a substitute in their opening draw with France.

At present Defoe is the only recognised striker in the Spurs squad, although Villas-Boas is expected to spend heavily in the transfer market, which includes turning Emmanuel Adebayor’s loan move from Manchester City into a permanent deal. Defoe’s fortunes may have improved with a change of manager but QPR are still hopeful they may be able to lure him to Loftus Road.

The 29-year-old has two years left on his current deal but Spurs may be tempted to sell if a club offer in the region of £10million.

Hughes is determined to improve Rangers’ threat up front after they scored just 43 goals in 38 matches in the League last season and has already acquired Andy Johnson from Fulham.

Liverpool have also been linked with the striker, who has scored a total of 118 goals for Spurs in the seven years he has spent in his career at the club over two spells.

The good news is that 95% of these rumours are not going to happen. We're only going to sign 2 or 3 or 4 more players at most (Surely?!)

Its the 15 games last season that worries me with Gallas the age things not such a big deal. I'd say hughes thinking would be if he can't find a younger affordable player getting top class experienced guy on a short deal gives the club time to find what they are looking for long term. My theory is we'll see 2 or 3 30 plus players for every 1 20 to 25 year old we get.

Im thinking 3 more then possibly someone like Defoe on deadline day say 4 in total with the 5 we already have , about 9 for the window !
We released Perone,Gabbi,Hall, Borrowdale,Cook,Rowly, shitetu etc Buzz maybe going too , with Connolly,Smith ,Paddy ,DJ,Bothroyd and HULSE PLEASE [image] [image]

So 13-14 going and 9 in , seems about right?

Man City, QPR alerted as Ranocchia wants out of Inter Milan

Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Thu, 07/05/2012 - 12:24

Inter Milan are pushing to close a deal for Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov.

Corriere dello Sport says Inter are ready to offer Andrea Ranocchia, a favourite of City manager Roberto Mancini, in exchange for Kolarov.

A fed-up Ranocchia is demanding a transfer as Inter put the final touches on a deal for Palermo stopper Matias Silvestre.

And the former Bari would welcome a move to City, though QPR are also keen where Mike Rigg has watched the Italy international extensively.

Where are all these rumours coming from Rory?

Is this the guy who plays for Man U?

If so I think he is quite good but not at Mackie's exspence.

Celtic eye Norway midfielder Henriksen as QPR close in on £8m Ki

Celtic ran the rule over Norwegian international midfielder Markus Henriksen on Thursday night - amidst speculation of an £8million bid for Ki Sung Yueng from Queens Park Rangers.
Parkhead manager Neil Lennon had 19-year-old Henriksen watched in Belfast as Rosenborg began their Champions League qualifying campaign against Crusaders.
Rated in the £2m bracket, Lennon confessed to an interest in Henriksen in May. And last night's scouting mission came as reports in Seoul claimed ambitious QPR were preparing to bid £8m for South Korean international Ki.

The Premiership club are sponsored by Air Asia and have trained their sights on the South Korean as part of their marketing strategy.
Sportsmail understands manager Mark Hughes has received favourable reports on the 23-year-old.

Russian club Rubin Kazan have already had a bid of £6m for Ki turned down by Celtic, who want £9m for the playmaker.
Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen have also been credited with an interest.
Expressing a preference to play in Spain, however, Ki said recently: 'All footballers want to play at the highest level and my dream is to play in La Liga.'
