Priority on the playing side is to arrange the exits of both Joey Barton & SWP

Hot on the heels of that is Clint Hill's new contract.

These kind of debates can all wait for a few days though, I think we are all still in a strange kind of shell shock!

Kemp!!! Trust me I'm as happy as anyone we are there & I agree we could have won it had there not been what seemed to appear to be the Fergie extra time mins!! & in fact we seemed to play better without him on the pitch!!!
With that in mind mind we could actually be a real force in the prem with 11 players & samba & ali in the centre of the park with Barton playing for West Ham or loaned out to a rich russian club or something............Just as long as he isn't playing for us!!!

In no way can I possibly support what Barton did. This is the sort of thing that brings our game into disrepute with those who already knock football. I don't care about provocation; it is no excuse and the idiot should have risen above it. Nothing but a total yob whose actions not only bring himself but also the club into disrepute. Thank God the FA can't deduct points from us for that sort of behaviour .......................... can they? If it could be done and was done, resulting in our relegation, I wonder what Mr. Barton's supporters would be saying then.

Hard to justify what he has done. I was hugely in favour of Barton coming to QPR in the Summer. Lost my faith when he trash-talked Warnock after he got sacked. Only got worse since. Am afraid he has to go but nobody will take him. Long term contract on big wages and a 6 to 9 game ban hitting him shortly. Even on a free nobody will take him. We are stuck with him.

The problem is that Barton reacts in a violent manner, that's why players goad him. If Tevez had instigated the first move, Barton should have held his hands up to the officials or something, not respond with an elbow to the face. But Barton is Barton, he will lash out and clearly he won't learn from it. His bad temperament cost us the win at Norwich. It could have cost us staying up.

I don't dislike Barton and on his day he can be a great player, but he's a liability. Last chance saloon IMO.

I think ( hope ) one of those mercenary, oil bankrolled clubs in the Middle East / Russia will take him & SWP in his hand luggage / "man-bag"

I talked him up when we signed him but have grown to despise the sight of him, he has to go, he is a poisonous, genuinely nasty, arrogant piece of work, why not just quit Football & become a Labour MP Joey ?

Just F*ck Off

WHat Barton did was a definate red card offence. However again its funny how the Lino on the other side of the pitch can see what Barton did but not what Tevez did. It also seemed that Barton was singled out. He also seemed to take a blow to the head in the first half and suffered a few heavy challenges 2nd half. Was he perhaps targetted by City? Sure it was only seconds before the elbow on Tevez that Barton and Tevez were involved in a challenge and words were said between them. Not sure why Barton kicked out at the player. But Barton had already received a red. So why were the City players still crowding around the ref. His attempted head butt at Kompany was wrong. Although I must admit I was hoping he would smash Balotelli in the face good and proper. Balotelli came over and should have stayed out of it. He deserved to be knocked spark out.

In saying all that. Barton was an idiot. The game was far too important to do what he did. He shoulld have gone down when Tevez kicked out at him. Barton isn't captain material. I will be surprised if he is still captain next season. I was actually going to say that Barton isn't the devil that he is being made out here. But his tweets smack of arrogance with no real remorse. I wonder if the people defending him on Twitter would be doing so if Bolton had won and we were relegated.

Did the incident add minutes to injury time........should we have won 2-1.........get rid of him, he gifted possession to Citeh twice in the first few minutes. I think this is the first time I have bagged a Rangers player since I joined this forum. We are Premier League.

Agree with klr, but not sure Barton will go to Russia/ME, he wants to be in England I reckon. We need to hope for a miracle, because I can't see anyone coming in for him who will be acceptable to him. Definitely not right as captain going forward, but that speaks for itself

Can't see how they can sack him, there's no breach of contract, only grounds are bringing the club into disrepute.

A mediocre talent, a deeply flawed human being with ADD issues, the worst example setting captain we have ever had.

Agree, can't sack someone because he got sent off. He still got 3 years on his contract at reportedly 80k a week. That contract looks like a pretty bad decision now (understatement of the century)

Can't sack him for that!!! The best they can do is cancel his contract by mutal agreement which would cost about 5 million!!!!

Actually I'm pretty sure they can for bringing the club into disrepute. I think it all depends on what the FA do about it. If they give him say a 10 match ban I think they could do it.

If clubs can sack managers during their contracts they can do the same to players.

Could be classed as gross misconduct but it all depends what's in his contract.

If City couldn't sack Tevez for not wanting to play, I am pretty sure we can't sack Barton for getting sent off. Sure we can cancel his contract, but we would have to pay it out. Then we are better off keeping him and hope someone comes in for him in the Summer/Winter.

Er, am I missing something here? Did Barton actually seriously hurt anyone today? Judging by some of the vitriol being poured on his head on this thread you would have thought that he had just tortured a small furry creature to death in the centre circle of the Etihad pitch, rather than being sent off for the hint of an elbow on the the poor persecuted Carlos Tevez. As for Aguero, he seemed to have recovered pretty remarkably well by the time he popped up to score that injury time winner. Yes, Barton could have cost us the game but in fact I don't think his sending off did. We played extremely well in the half hour or so of the match that remained and even scored another goal.
Also, is this not the same Joey Barton who contributed quite significantly to our survival in the Premiership with his recent performances against Arsenal, Swansea, Spurs and Stoke? Or, did I just imagine that? Of course, it is far easier to jump on a bandwaggon against Barton which will no doubt be stirred up lovingly by the media and the FA over the next few days/weeks.
He was daft, perhaps stupid to do what he did today, but he was provoked and did it in the heat of the moment, he is human. He is also a bloody good footballer who would and has stuck his head in front of an opposition player's flying boot in the cause of our club. For Christ sake, cut him some slack and show some bloody solidarity with your own players. Have any of you seen a montage of Souness's greatest sendings-offs? He really did torture small furry creatures to death in the middle of football pitches.

Yes he has performed well in his last 6 games or so but what about all the sh*t matches he had before that?? For a supposed QPR captain to have about 6 good games all season and then do what he did today, that is disgraceful.

Barton is the biggest ever disgrace for QPR. But not only because of his regular ill discipline but Ned Zelic had more skill than Barton by a country mile. At the start of the game Barton managed to turn two easy clearances into goal threatening situations.

Utter and complete twat and if the club dont rip up his contract, they'll be disgracing themselves. But not only that, they should fine him 4 months worth of wages that up till now he has failed to earn.

The sooner he's gone the better. I'm predicting a 10 match ban but hopefully it will be more. I live in the hope the club stop his wages for the length of the ban. However, I'd rather see him gone NOW! He can take SWP with him and a couple of others.

Rory, Barton was transfer listed by Newcastle as they wanted to get rid of him. He was a free transfer with a year left on his contract.

Club can sack anyone they want but if it's not for breach of contract they will have to pay the remainder of his contract. Like they do with managers. John Gregory was still being paid by us about 2 years after he was sacked. In Joey's case paying off his contract would be about £8m(If his rumoured salary is to be believed). Remember Newcastle tried to sack him when he was locked up. But because he wasn't in breach of contract they couldnt do it without paying him off. So they decided not to.
