ADEL: 'WE HAVE TO BELIEVE'

Posted on: Mon 30 Apr 2012

Adel Taarabt cut a forlorn figure as he sat back in the Directors Box at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon after witnessing his team-mates suffer defeat at the hands of close rivals Chelsea.

The Moroccan midfielder looked on from the West Stand as his team-mates were sent crashing back down to earth following victory against Spurs the previous weekend with a 6-1 defeat down the Kings Road.

Taarabt - who bagged the winner against Tottenham, only to be later sent off for two bookable offences - missed the fixture at Stamford Bridge owing to a one match ban.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk on Tuesday morning, however, Taarabt - ever the optimist - believes that defeat at the Bridge needs to be forgotten about as the R's focus on Sunday's visit of Stoke City to Loftus Road.

"We have to forget that game now," he said.

"It was obviously very difficult to watch, but it is over now and we have to move on.

"Chelsea have just beaten Barcelona, arguably the greatest Club in the world, over two legs to reach the Champions League Final, so we knew it would be difficult.

"Obviously the manner of the defeat hurt us and the fans - who were brilliant, even singing at 6-0 down - as well, but we have to believe we can still stay up."

He added: "The most important thing for us now is to focus on Stoke.

"We have no choice but to win that game.

"Our home form, where we're backed superbly by our fans, has been excellent lately and we need another big performance this weekend.

"It isn't finished yet and we still believe we can do it

CISSE EYES 'BIG, BIG GAME'

Posted on: Tue 01 May 2012

Djibril Cisse says the R's squad fully understand what is required when they host Stoke this weekend, admitting: 'We must win, there is no other choice.'

The 30 year-old forward came into the starting line-up at Chelsea on Sunday for the first time since his red card at Sunderland in March, but left the pitch wanting to forget all about it as the Blues ran out 6-1 winners.

"It was a frustrating day for everyone and not easy to take, especially in a derby game like this," Cisse told www.qpr.co.uk this morning.

"They scored their first goal very early and the second came soon after that. When you are 4-0 down at half-time it is very difficult.

"But there is not much point to talk about this now. What we have to do is forget about it, recharge our batteries and make sure we are ready for Stoke.

"It is very hard but we must turn the page now and focus on Sunday's game."

Cisse scored his fourth goal for QPR since his January arrival from Lazio with a late consolation strike.

As the ball hit the back of the net, the France international clinched both fists but he is keen to explain it was NOT an act of celebration.

"When you are 6-0 down it is difficult to celebrate when you score," he said.

"People who know me know that my reaction was all my anger and all my frustration of the day coming out. But for me this is finished and my mind is already on this weekend and what we must do."

QPR take on Tony Pulis's side at Loftus Road knowing victory will give their survival hopes a real boost, and Cisse explained: "The plan now is to lift one another this week.

"We will all try to help each other to be ready for Sunday because it is a big, big game.

"It is a final for us. If we can win this game it will be a big step for us.

"We have all week to prepare ourselves and what is encouraging is that our home form is really good. That is what we need to concentrate on and work on."

Rangers have picked up 13 points from their last five fixtures in W12, including four consecutive wins, and Cisse welcomes the intensity of our next game.

"I like it when there is pressure," he said. "The Manager will have to make his choices about who plays but whether you are on the pitch or on the bench you must be ready.

"Everybody in our dressing room must show what we are made of. We have a lot of characters and we must all do our bit.

"We must win this game, there is no other choice."

If only we could play as well on a Match Day as the players say they will in the build up. We would be in the top 4 easy.

Looks like IJT and the club are taking a lot of stick because of all the stupid interviews they do, filled with empty words.

It's a bit like watching the Pro Wrestling. The players huff and puff about how good they are and what they are going to do and then they get stuffed!

A good point Rory, but he would help his cause if he changed the reports sometimes. The Cisse report is almost the same as the Adel one with a bit about the goal celebration thrown in.
He could try making the report/interview interesting rather than churn out stuff that anyone with a brain could work out for themselves. I am sure we all realise the Stoke game is a "We must win this game, there is no other choice." game. Do we really need all the players to say this to us EVERY day this week?

Perhaps IJ can tell us, since when is it his JOB to keep churning out the same crap time after time? Is this an instruction from above? If so, perhaps he can or the person above can clarify.

We have had a midfielder and a striker so surely Wenesday will see a defender telling us that "Sunday is a must win game which we have no choice but to win"

As we don't have any defenders who can defend they will have to pull Steve Wicks out of hospitality to tell us that.

Anton Ferdinand QPR Official Site

ANTON: 'THIS SHIRT MEANS EVERYTHING'

Posted on: Thu 03 May 2012

Anton Ferdinand has issued a rallying cry to his team-mates ahead of what he describes as 'the biggest game of their lives' on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers play host to Stoke City at Loftus Road on Sunday lunchtime and Ferdinand - one of the R's most consistent performers this season and an obvious front-runner for the Player of the Year crown - didn't mix his words ahead of the visit of Tony Pulis's men.

He told www.qpr.co.uk: "We're professionals and it's important to get that Chelsea result out of our system.

"It's in the past now and it's vitally important we're ready for the biggest game of our lives on Sunday, because that's what this is.

"It's a massive game.

"It doesn't just affect players. It affects fans and it affects people that work at the Club.

"There's a lot riding on us staying in the Premier League and we know that.

"We've got to show that this shirt means everything to each and every one of us."

Ferdinand received unbelievable backing from the QPR faithful at Stamford Bridge last weekend and he added: "We haven't done the fans justice at times this season.

"We haven't played as well as we should have done at certain stages - like Chelsea last weekend - but the aim is to stay in the Premier League this season.

"This QPR team is a work in progress still. Next year will be the time when people can judge us properly."

Derry Friday

QPR Official Site

DERRY: NO TIME TO DWELL
Posted on: Fri 04 May 2012

The talking is nearly over as QPR prepare to take on Stoke City at Loftus Road this weekend.

In what is widely-regarded as a must-win fixture as Rangers bid to secure their Premier League survival, midfielder Shaun Derry says there is no fear of last weekend's result at Chelsea affecting the squad's preparations.
Article continues

The R's lost 6-1 at Stamford Bridge, but Derry told www.qpr.co.uk this morning: "It hasn't been a case of trying to pick people's chins up. Training has been sharp.

"That defeat hurt but there's no point dwelling on what happened.

"We were under no illusions as to how hard the Chelsea game would be. We knew it was going to be a huge bonus point if we'd have got one there but we were unable to do that."

Such a heavy loss can often lead to a positive response as the players look to right the wrongs of a previous result, and Derry said: "Was it a kick up the backside? Well, we've had a few this year haven't we?

"But what we have done, when we have let ourselves down is react well. And we are hoping to do the same this weekend."

Rangers suffered a 6-0 defeat at Fulham earlier in the campaign and the response was a four-point haul from the next two games. If that reaction could be matched in the coming nine days QPR would stand a great chance of winning their relegation fight.

Derry added: "We always knew Stoke was going to be the big game, and that would seem to be the case after the Bolton result against Tottenham on Tuesday night.

"It's a very important weekend for us and we need to be on top form."

Bolton lost 4-1 to Spurs, meaning only goal difference separates Rangers and the Trotters with two games remaining, and Derry added: "I think if you asked any side fighting relegation, they would want it to be about them and their results rather than other teams' fixtures.

"And we are in that position.

"Now it is about how we approach these last two games. We can't rely on other teams. We have to take care of ourselves and make things happen.

"And we have to do that starting with Stoke on Sunday. It's going to be an almighty game."
