Buzsaky helps fund Railway Beacon's trip to Hungary
Wednesday, April 25, 2012
FORMER Plymouth Argyle midfielder Akos Buzsaky is paying for Railway Beacon Under-16s to stay in Hungary and play his boyhood club, FC Grund.
Buzsaky, now of Premier League club QPR, has remained friends with Railway Beacon coach Craig Duncan since leaving the Pilgrims for Loftus Road in 2007.
Railway Beacon with coaches Craig Duncan (left) and assistant coach Lee Dunstan who are going to Hungary to Akos Buzsaky’s former junior team FC Grund
.Beacon, who found the £3,500 for flights themselves, go over on Friday, July 20 and come back on Monday, July 23.
Duncan said: "When Akos first came to Plymouth in 2005 he came to us (Cross Keys Estate Agents) for advice on buying a property. We've remained friends ever since.
"Akos is very proud of his homeland, Hungary, and always telling us to go over there and play.
"One day I said the lads would love to. He rang back 10 minutes later and said if we could sort out the flights, he would sort out the rest – hotel, food, everything.
"I priced it up and that's a lot of money."
Duncan added: "You hear so much about selfish Premier League footballers, it's just nice to hear something positive. Akos is a genuinely nice bloke."

That's a really nice story especially with the bad publicity some players have gotten in recent times. Well done Buz

AKOS GIVES BACK TO FOOTBALL
Posted on: Wed 02 May 2012
Akos Buzsaky has paid for an Under 16s team to fly to Hungary for a pre-season trip in July.
The Rangers midfielder has provided the funds which will enable Plymouth-based outfit Railway Beacon to take on his own boyhood team FC Grund, which he now owns.
Buzsaky, who joined QPR from the Pilgrims in 2008, told www.qpr.co.uk: "Craig Duncan (Coach of Railway Beacon) is a good friend of mine.
"I have always invited them to come to Hungary if they had time. We spoke about it more and my Club offered to play them and pay for their accommodation while they were out there.
"It gives me satisfaction to do this and it will be a good experience for their players. It will also be a good experience for my team as well.
"It is always exciting to play against a foreign side so it benefits both clubs. This also gives the kids a chance to meet new friends from a different country which will be nice. I am glad it is going to happen."
FC Grund have players ranging in age from Under fours through to a senior side, and Buzsaky explained: "Grund was created 26 years ago by my dad.
"He was the first coach in Hungary who started to teach football to four-year-olds.
"I played for them from the age of four until I was 16. I moved on but as soon as I could afford it, I put something back.
"We have built a new training ground and a new Club House, and it looks really nice. We have now got more than 400 kids there and we have eight or nine coaches working with them.
"Grund is very important to me. I got to where I am because I learned football in this way. Hopefully young Hungarian players can follow me and achieve what I have managed to achieve.
"We are improving all the time and we want to keep growing and growing. We want to be one of the best footballing schools in Hungary."
