Hi guys , I see the addicks have just resigned Lee Cook .
We had him on loan from Fulham four years ago and he wasn't match fit so we never saw the best of him and understandably some of our fans haven't greeted this news with much anticipation .
I saw him play for Orient against us on New Year's Eve and felt he looked useful and I remember a superb free kick he scored for you against us in a Boxing Day game a couple of years ago .Do you think he can do a job for us and get us over the line in the next nine games.

It's a good move for him, but to be honest I & maybe some other QPR fans would have had more respect for him if he had pushed for a move like this two years ago.
As for not being match fit then, erm.................well, I'm not altogether sure exactly how "match fit" he is now ?
"Mistakes" were made in his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury, I'll give you my opinion for what it's worth, his career as a week in week out professional football player is over, & has been for a very long time.

Hi Addick , was talking to my Nextdoor neighbour Charlton fan at the weekend and told him to stop panicking , you only need 3 wins from about 10. Should be beat Yeovil tomorrow but if you dont then panic , Hudds away will be tough. Anyhow sure Lee can do a job for you as a back up , not sure if he would be good enough for the Championship any more though. Still, looking forward to locking horns next year .

My personal opinion is that he is still a very good championship player and should do a very good job for you. He is deffinately one of the best crossers in the country. Not as good as he was 5/6 years ago due to poor treatment on his knee. Since then doesn't seem to have gone on the outside of defenders as much i'm not sure why maybe he's not as quick, caused him pain or lack of confidence due to the injury. However he should still be very good for you and i wish him all the best, in fact i'd like to see him been given a proper go in the summer regardless of what division we end up in. I myself wouldn't have been suprised if he had got a England call up before the injury. Wish cookie and charlton the best of luck this season.

That's overegging it just a little bit dont you think ?
He wasnt even the best Left Winger in the division in his Annus Miraculus of 2006-2007, that was Chris Brunt of Sheffield Wednesday who went on to bigger & better things. I would have been surprised if he had've been given an England call up in spring 2007, very surprised infact seeing as he was playing for Queens Park Rangers in a relegation battle in the Championship, having said that I will agree with you that he had something that most wingers that play for England do not have; He could / can cross a football. Best of luck to him, but again, a truly ridiculous episode that sums up our club at its very worst, someone please tell me he isnt STILL on the payroll ? Deary me, lol!

Thanks for the views lads .
I think Lee will be good for our run in to give us experienced cover for Johnny Jackson who has been outstanding for us this season but is also unfortuntely injury prone . I guess this could be Lee's last chance to play at CCC level if we got promoted and retained him next season .
Hopefully we will not renew our rivalry next season because I hope you stay up !

Just thought I'd post to explain why Lee has not featured yet for Charlton since the move.
Apparently the paperwork didn't get completed until Tuesday morning which meant Lee only met up with the Addicks at the Yeovil game and according to Chris Powell he didn't feel it would be fair to pitch him straight in .
Having won that game and Dany N'Guessan scoring Lee was on the bench yesterday but did not get on I suspect this was because Darel Russell was sent off .
I suspect he will make his second debut for us against his other ex club Orient next week. As a natural left sider himself as a player Powell has stated he likes the balance a natural left footer gives us , so I think Lee will feature before the seasons out.
As an aside I will be at Old Trafford when you play there in a couple of weeks time following the Addicks away trip at Oldham as a birthday treat for my son ,but I have been told that I will be ejected if I cheered when you score .

Think you might be okay with that one mate, though you never know this is QPR after all.........

You only need 2 wins from 8 and you will do that , if you blow it from here boy that would be bad . Beat Orient and welcome to the Champs , see you there.

As I predicted Lee made his second debut for Charlton yesterday and he showed his class .His delivery at set plays was sublime and he made our second goal with a peach of a cross .As some of you predicted he did tire towards the end but he made an excellant contribution.
Many amongst our support are now saying that we should sign him next season .He is out of contract isn't he ?The biggest compliment I could give him is that I did not notice the abscence of Johnnie Jackson because Lee replicated the left sided balance, indeed I preferred him to Hogan Ephraim who also did well for us just before Xmas but is right footed.
Congrats on beating the Gooners yesterday

I'm sure most of us would be very happy if you continue to report on Cooks contribution in your upcoming matches! Great of you to post here.

Another update .
Lee played a role in both our games accross Easter he started at Oldham and came on from the bench versus Walsall .
He played well at Boundary Park and was only subbed late on when we went down to nine men and Matt Taylor came on as an extra centre back to see out the win .
Lee was on the bench yesterday when Johnnie Jackson returned to the starting line up and came on himself as a late sub . I suspect neither Lee or Jacko could have played 180 minutes footie within 72 hours so he has given us the option of squad rotation . I would be interested in seeing them play together and move Jacko to a central position before the season is out.
He has this time done an excellant job for us and helped provide the impetus we needed to cross the line for promotion . We certainly need at least one attacking left sider for next season so I suspect he is playing for a contract .
Thought you were unlucky at Old Trafford and I sympathised with your fans with the terrible decision that the ref made . I do think you will be okay though with Blackburn , Wigan and Wolves dropping down . I know you have a tough run in but all of your competitors have difficult games as well and it looks like Blackburn are heading for their second dip and you have picked up some good results.

"Lee delivered a peach of a cross" - Something we've been missing for most of the season, except when Taarabt plays.

Yeah thanks as usual , glad you are nearly there one more win will do it . Always enjoyed the QPR V Charlton games at either ground with my neighbour , maybe we can meet up in the prem in two years time if you do a Southampton or Norwich but reckon you need 5-6 good Championship level players yet .

Lee didn't make the sixteen at Carlisle but was on the pitch at the end with the rest of the players as we celebrated our third promotion in the Cumbrian town following 1981 and 1986.
It will be interesting to see if he features again now ,if he does I suspect Powell may sign him if not he would move on with our best wishes .
I know there were big rumours he may join Beckham at LA Galaxy when he left Orient . The O's loved him as a player ,but apparently QPR paid most of his wages and they could not afford to keep him .
Anyway I think you have turned the corner and have a bit of momentum in your survival bid .Good luck.

Basically we had other players coming back into the mix like Wagstaff and Haynes who would be more versatile . The five subs rule has meant that you need some utility men on there.
I think there is a chance we may still go for him because as a genuine leftie he is unusual and gave us balance when Johnnie Jackson was injured.

This will probably be my last post about Lee .
He started last week against Preston so clearly Powell must be thinking about signing him . He looked effective but unfortunately he got some rough treatment and was subbed on 40 minutes when he went off injured .On Saturday he joined the title celebrations but looked to be still limping.
In all he did do the job we wanted and played a small but significant role in seeing us over the line.
Hopefully you have turned the corner after yesterday .Good luck for next week.
