Just seen some racist comments and jokes about this poor young man on YouTube. Seriously, it depresses me to have to breathe the same air as these reptiles. At least the Spurs fans generally behaved like normal humans.

I don't understand anyone making jokes, let alone racist comments. And it must be pretty rare...Because everything I've seen - on QPR boards and in general, are so united in sympathy and shock.

Some things you just dont joke about.

I have also not seen anything of this nature, but it does make you wonder what kind of person could see fit to joke about something as genuinely shocking & tragic as this incident.

Infact it beggars belief.

My thoughts go out to this young man & his family at this awful time.

There was a 21 year old guy on Twitter who was making horrific comments about Muamba. He was a student at Swansea university and loads of people sent emails to the college, showing them what he wrote. The same guy was arrested by South Wales Police this morning for racial hate crimes.

Got to give a lot of respect to Gary Cahill who scored his first goal for Chelsea today and lifted his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with 'Pray For Muamba' on it.

I just hope the killjoy ref didn't give hima yellow for that (Cahill's action) - some refs in England would do just that.

I hope he recovers but I an't say the news has been too promising so far. I believe he is still in a serious condition.

As they say this tragedy puts football into perspetive. And it (players collapsing for apparent heart problems) seems to to be happening more often these days.

when a de-fib is attached it is basically detecting an unstable rhythm in the heart. it detects this and a shock is administered to stop the heart and allow it to restart on its own accord into its natural rhythm. this is a classic heart attack

it seems that the player suffered a total cardiac arrest...ie the heart stopped. ....Now, in normal work circumstances, say supermarkets, care homes etc etc, de-fib trained people like myself ( my work place has a de-fib so we are trained on it ), would only be expected to continue CPR for 30 minutes after a de-fib does has not detected any rhythm worth shocking, after that, as a general rule you would give up . Basically what i mean is , the doctors carried out CPR for 2 hours, trying to restart his heart.........its an AMAZING effort on all concerned

i hope the lad is going to make it, he has a young family and he , himself sounds like a clever, honest, fantastic footballer.........my concern would be as to what long term damage those two hours of cpr have caused

Although this is tragic what has happened it gives QPR a little more hope of survival as Bolton are the team we have most chance of catching
Boltons game against Villa on Tuesday night has rightly been cancelled

Really hope Bolton don't go into a downward spiral because of this. I know they are in the relegation battle with us but I hope they don't go down because of this.

I think I would be right in saying that, as well as getting the heart going, the main essential is ensuring that oxygen gets to the brain.

I rather think that the opposite may well be the case, Rory. A question of "Let's do it for Fabrice". If that is the case and it works and they stay up, even if we go down I would say good luck to them. A sad incident such as this takes precedence over any relegation issues.

I would assume that he may have permanent brain damage even if he pulls through which would be the saddest outcome possible

yes gramps. the de-fib stopps the heart allowing it to re-start on its own accord into its natural rhythm.
CPR, is effectivly a team of two outsiders, pumping the heart muscle ( doing its job , if you will) allowing the heart to pump oxygenated blood to the brain and other vital organs within the body.
as a rule, cpr is conducted at a ratio of 30 heart compressions to 2 breaths with the aim of achieving 100 compressions per minute.
when this is done for a short space of time, oxygenated blood can be pumped around the body quite well........but over this period of time, as someone else has commented, its tricky to maintain a good rhythm, and sadly, brain problems can occur....................
can i just say, i am no doctor, iv just had cpr and de-fib training,.....but i know on what training i have been given, that 1 it is a miracle the guy is alive and 2 im worried about the consequences if he pulls through.....having said that, there is a small hope he will be somewhere near his normal self, and thats what we all hope

people die every minute of every day in this country and of all ages.
it is a tragedy and if he dies it will be so so sad, but i do think rangers going down would still personally affect me more than him passing away.
i dont know him, never have never will.
i never even cried when jade goody or princess di died, so i dont think i would for a footballer from another club.
so sorry if that sounds totally insensitive, it isnt meant too and i am extremly sorry for the lad and his family.

Posted on a Bolton message board last night to give my best wishes. So many fans of other clubs have done the same, even from teams in Poland and France.

if muamba is pronounced dead i will feel really bad but wont cry.
if rangers are officially relegated i will feel totally shite for ages and boo like a baby.

thats about as honest as i can be.
footballs more than life or death when it aint someone you knows life or death isnt it?

I won't cry if he dies but I can say the same about us going down.

At the end of the day a mans life is more important than 11 men kicking a ball around a pitch.

whys it shite?
you must be permanantly sad. reading the newspaper or watching the news must push you right over the edge if you get in such a state over every single human that dies that it affects you more than youre football club you pay to watch and talk about 7 days a week on a forum.
its sad, terrible and upsetting, but its life and death.
human nature.
it happens every second of evry day, you just have to try to be stong.
serious as well.

this was touching by the way
