They are in Iran and being welcomed by I'm a dinner jacket whos publicly stated stance is to destroy Israel. Fairly soon, if you believe a number of independent reports, they will soon acquire a method of doing just that. I am always a bit wary of groups whos definition of peace includes flying airplanes into buildings, firing rockets indiscriminately into someone elses country and persuading young people to give their lives as suicide bombers. Still, it takes all sorts.

Let's put it this way: If you hate Israel/think it's the Demon Spawn/the New Nazis/racist-apartheid, etc, etc, think it shouldn't exist: Will have no problem with this group.
However If you do accept a Jewish state of Israel - even if completely within the pre-1967 lines/without the post-1967settlements, etc and a separate Palestinian State- very hard to see supporters or acceptors of ANY State of Israel, in this group of signers, or among the others involved -And that can be seen on the rest of the site.
I don't want this to become a political thread about Israel. But I have to admit I was surprised and disappointed.

Wow, i am sure there will not be any islamists threatening their safety or any nation refusing entry. They shall receive plenty of publicity and i am sure it will go off peacefully. On the other hand however, if the march was against people of other faiths, the minoriites who have suffered under tyrannical islamist regimes, using barbaric ideas/methods to the extreme as the ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Bangladesh or Pakistan for example, or the constant bullying and threats received by Israel on a dailly basis, by some of the very regimes encouraging support for the Palestinians, such hypocrites that they are. Howcome, the Syrians or Jordanians or other close neighbours have not done much much more for their poor brothers? It is like the saying 'you can have peace as long as it is on my terms'.
I could go on, however, this is not the forum for it as someone will soon point out.
If someone decides to take this topic to the 'extra' site perhaps it can be discussed further.

when you occupy someones land you should expect to get grief, and when you get the backing of the usa you should expect even more . I have no sympathy for Israel but i agree this is NOT the forum for this issue.

Tony F should focus on strengthening his business interests, moving his racing team up the F1 grid and sorting out the almighty mess our club is becoming under his ownership instead of wading knee deep into unresolvable global politics! There are problems closer to home that Tony needs to focus on! That is, if he wishes to protect the investment he has made into our club.

And I raised it again today on the QPR Report Blog qprreportblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/premiership-chairman-qpr-chairman-tony.htmlIf you don't like Israel, obviously see no problem - and perhaps even think it's a great thing he's doing this. However if you support the Jewish state - even if you're extremely critical of certain/many/all policies of Israel - would find that the support of the Chairman of QPR extremely troublesome. And no prizes (no Nico Book awarded) for guessing what my perspective is. Fernandes can obviously be as anti-Israel as he wants. And I can be as unhappy as I want. On the broader matter, do wonder if Fernandes would excerpt any "influence" if (hypothetically) a QPR manager wanted to sign an Israeli player.

You're becoming obsessive Macmoish! I don't think Tony would reject a good player just because he was an Israeli, he's just showing support for the Palestinians who were basically turfed from their houses and land when the State of Israel was formed!

Certainly a point of view! And the descriptive term "Obsessive" has certainly been used before to describe me and my postings But Can anyone think of any other QPR Chairman - or Chairman of any other club - who has publicly adopted such a "Political/Ideological" Position? Foreign or Domestic? I certainly can't think of any at QPR... (I can obviously think Scandal, controversy, Crashgate, Tabloids, etc, etc, but political like this? I certainly can't And I wonder, if you're the Chairman of another club, and your feelings about Israel are not the same as Fernandes, whether that will have impact on your dealings with the club.

I have many Jewish friends who are sympathetic to the sad plight of the Palestinians! We all agree that there will come a day when the two nations will live side by side in peace(as neither of them are going anywhere, the sooner the better which will stop all the needless bloodshed!)! Have faith Macmoish!!!!

Just to be clear: I'm obviously not suggesting that everyone should have my Zionist position.
I would say that this"Global March to Jerusalem" and the things its saying is NOT being supported by Pro-Israel "Peaceniks" and"Two State Solution" people; It's NOT being supported by the many people who absolutely support two state solution, and have no problem criticizing Israel but don't seek it's eradication/replacement
And many, may of the "Name" endorsers of this Global March are people who have longstanding positions and are NOT "Two State Solution" People.
So when I see the name of Tony Fernandes signing on to this statement, well I think you see where I'm coming from.

And yet that is exactly what you have made it.
And a debate on your terms, with recourse to the limited facts and perspectives that you champion for personal reasons.
Could I suggest we worry about Israel after we have secured another season in the PL?

Can I suggest that the Chairman of Queens Park Rangers had adopted a public position...And that it's relating to an event occurring in a couple of days. And I'm taking note of that.

BornRaised in london and being jewish and suffering the ignominy of Oswald Moseley and his fascist hate groups, and losing many of my family in london and europe to the concentration camps, I have very strong feelings about the absolute necessity of Jews having a safe country, after being persecuted and extruded from almost every european country over the centuries.
That the President of my club is taking this position pains me considerably.
This thread though has run its course and I intend to close it which is my perogative as a moderator. I have deep respect for everyones opinions as it represents everyones points of view, which comes from their own experiences. With Macs permission I will close it.
If he wishes to re open it, that is certainly fine, after all., this is his blogsite.
