Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been told he is free to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

The veteran star was believed to be a target for Queens Park Rangers in January but a move never materialised.

But now the Bundesliga side has confirmed they will let the 35-year-old leave before his contract expires in the summer, opening the door to renewed interest from Mark Hughes’ side.

Leverkusen CEO Wolfgang Holzhauer said: “Our contract with Ballack runs until June 30. If he wants to get out early, we can certainly discuss that.”

I like how we're being linked with all these top-level players...If we go down, we're surely going to have to look quite a bit lower

I think we could...But we can't change our 25 players List (if it's filled up)...If we had named 24, I think we could have added him to the 25

What about Harry, and he is younger than Michael B.

I'm pretty sure you can take out 1 of the 25 for someone else? Sure I've done it in football manager !

No you can't, otherwise the 25 man squad rule is pointless.

Bring him in!! We need routine in the team. Look at how well Paul Scoles has done it at United this season.
Next season I should believe it could even be tempting to sign him as a coach(Alongside Sparky). In the long run, that would really be something.

Would take him for one season if we stay up. He may be injury prone and old but no-one can deny he is a brilliant midfielder and his experience and ability would be welcomed by me.
